The Question you asked was a good one, But I agree with the other response that we are not going in that direction, but perception is powerful even when it is wrong. It is true the Club is well known...but mainly in the Southern Connecticut area. You would be surprised how many people do not know us, even locally, take the boyfriend's comment, seeing the Club in a parade and still he does not know.
To the General Public, the image of an MC has been tarnished. Most people believe what they see and what they see is bikers. It doesn't matter if they have patches or don't, all they see is leather and perhaps tattoos. With most people the image of Bikers is that which they are given and as the old story goes the rotten apple spoils the barrel. People see the shows on television like "Sons" and because the only other source they are subjected to are the documentaries on 1% Clubs and the news, recently the fight in Niagara, they put two and two together and come up with three. The Club goes a long way to promote itself in a good light and it does well, but it does not have national coverage. When people are flooded with one sided info they take that as truth. So we do have to be conscience of that fact, and make sure whereever we are, we cast the Club in a good light, Not just for the Club but for the millions of motorcyclists who ride every day and in no way are in the 1%.
It comes down to educating the public and we do that by what we do.
