Well, we did our best. We have no control over mother nature.
I want to thank
everyone who came to help the Club. Cold, wet, horrible rain and yet 30 hardy
members rode their bike, others in cages. No one better ever call this Club a
poser Club. All the poser's stayed home today. The break down effort was swift
with plenty of hands. No one left their brothers and sisters to do it alone. We
truely have a great Club.
We missed the boat on the membership raffle. There
were roughly 100 people who came in but only a dozen cards filled out, all but
one from New London County, winner to be picked. If nothing else local people
met the local Club, and it is some exposure for us.
Excluding 30 NLMC
bikes, we had 74 bikes come to the event, about 100 people, not even enough to
give away the 100 t-shirts free.
We have a lot of large and extra large
t-shirts left over, mainly because only about 100 went out, some sponsors,
Trantolo, didn't show up, the vendor gave us an additional 30 free that were
large and extra-large. We quickly ran out of Small, Medium, 2X and 3X because I
was advised not to order many of them, and because we allowed members to
pre-order t-shirts, it also impacted those sizes. Next year I will order of what
we ran out of quickly. I rather have them left over than not have them at all to
sell. You are either in business or not. I understand some members did not like
the color choices, or that there were two choices. I would not buy something I
didn't like. Year's past we only offered Black and members complained about
that. Why anyone would complain about 2 choices of the same size I don't
understand. The T-shirt printing itself was the worse we have ever have. This
guy was supposed to be the new King in town taking over T's Plus but it was the
worse quality work I have ever seen. He even screwed up the sizing for the
sponsors, locations, and even the colors. I ordered XS and got none. We will be
sending out apology cards because of it. He will never see us again, or anyone
else I know.
All in all I believe we generated enough income to break even
with the exception for making a charitable donation this year. The jury is out
until we get a firm grip on the numbers.
Again! Thanks to All! A Zen
type guru biker in our Club said It's not the Club that makes the member" "It's
the members that make the Club" how true it is.
