This must be my LUCKY day!!!!

So far this morning three people have told me this is my lucky day, two of them told me I should either buy some lottery tickets or go to the casino. It's funny what people consider lucky, a rabbits foot, (not really lucky for the rabbit was it), then there's a horseshoe hung above a barn door, I guess you stay lucky as long as it doesn't fall off on your head. People consider the weirdest things lucky. I actually don't feel all that lucky, well, maybe a little. I was cruising down Colman Street in New London this morning, on my way to work, (on a day I shouldn't be working) and I got hit in the shoulder. Sure I guess it was lucky I didn't catch that load of Seagull shit in the face, but still, the shirts F@#'d.

But Lucky? Really?

Gee, thank you...it's what I always wanted!!!

Stage Cloud Name Appearance Associated Winds

1 Fair weather cumulus Clouds with horizontal bases, rounded surfaces, and with little vertical development. Light indrafts into base of clouds.

2 Towering cumulus Clouds with vertical development, towering, cauliflower appearance and clear-cut tops. Stronger indrafts into base of the clouds, perhaps affecting surface winds.

3 Cumulonimbus High vertical development, and anvil shaped tops composed of ice crystals. Bases are ragged from downdrafts and virga. Downdrafts that reach the ground exist, resulting in cool, gusty winds that can be experienced within five to six miles of thunderstorm.

Let's take another look at the mature thunderhead. (See figure above) Thunderstorms may remain stationary or move with or across prevailing winds. The top of the cloud may fracture and drift in the direction of winds aloft. Indrafts can continue into the base on the windward side, as downdrafts are pouring from the base elsewhere. Downdrafts will usually reach the ground and flow in all directions; however, local and general winds tend to mix and modify the downdraft winds. Thunderstorm winds will be experienced for greater distances on the ground if they are combined with a prevailing surface wind.

There are several things to watch for that will indicate when downdrafts from a thunderstorm have begun. First, you may see a small roll cloud developing on the downwind side of the cloud base. You may see virga hanging from a ragged, dark base. Virga is actually rain that falls part way to the ground. Then you might observe a dust cloud, as the first gusts spread out over the countryside. Depending on your proximity to a thunderstorm you may experience varying weather conditions. The important thing is that you be prepared for the worst, should it occur. Remember, thunderstorm winds can easily reach 30 to 60 miles per hour.

Now that we have that covered...Who's riding tonight?

Remember...as long as you keep moving...It only rains in the front.

Jenny's got new toys on order

I ordered the reduced reach forward controls for Jenny from Mikes the other day. The new controls take about 5 days to arrive so I should see them around Tuesday.

Today I ordered the new seat, I was going to get a solo seat and get rid of the passenger pad, but since this company offers the seat, the mounting hardware and the pillion for about the same price as the Harley seat and mount kit, I decided to get both seats.

The seat should be grayish, brownish, black with red.

Did I mention...Gator?

The Dyna Spring seat comes through with Hairpin springs, which is not what I was looking for, but I figure I'll mount the seat and see how it looks and rides. If I don't like it...

I can order the Coil Spring Conversion.

Long Shots

The Club is invited to Long Shots this Saturday 6/29/13, as a social get together.  This is a non-riding event.  If you would like to wear your patch, it is welcomed.  Long Shots was a 2013 New London Motorcycle Club Bike Blessing sponsor, so it would be a good idea to show out in force.

Meet: 9:00 pm
Where: Long Shots Bar (2020 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Montville, CT 06382)

A few Sunday pix

She's Jenny

I'm naming her Jenny, named after a Curtis JN-8 World War 1 airplane. The reason is simple, with her Vance and Hines exhaust, if you are just cruising along the back roads at about 40mph, she sounds like a bi-plane.

Julie told me to name it Jools. When I said, "Name it after you?"

I got one of those Julie smiles.

AWESOME

We left Dunkin Donut's at 10:10am already warm enough to run sleeveless, made a second pickup at Pawcatuck Dunkin Donut's on Rte 2 and Rte 49and rode back roads into Rhode Island.
There were 25 bikes, 30 plus members on a gorgeous sunny Sunday ride. We took all back roads eventually arriving at Narragansett Pier following the shoreline to Pt. Judith where we had lunch at the roof top Hammer Head Bar at the Bon Vue Inn. The food was excellent and the company even better.
A special thanks to Tom Yuchniuk and John Cherrick, the only 2 Road Guards that showed up and Road Sergeant Joe Fogarty who was a reserve Road Guard. The route was planned in such a way that we could get by without the use of Road Guards but it is always good to have them. Everything went as smooth as vanilla, no hick ups.
After lunch Doug and Linda Young wanted to stop by Handlebars Cafe in Stonington and many others wanted to see where we did the show. We arrived at Handlebars around 2:30pm and members left at will. Some of the guys were shooting pool when I left around 3:15pm and I was home by 4:00pm
It looks like the Handlebar's Episode will air on July 14th. Check you TV Guide

Give me some suggestions

Every once in a while you come across a photo that needs...messing with... So...here's your chance.

I don't know what they were talking about, and I really don't care because it doesn't matter. What does matter is the expression on his face...

What does he need to be saying?

New Arrivals !!!

It is with the greatest of pleasure that allows me to make this announcement,

There is the greatest possibility that Julianne and Craig may have received a new member to their family today.

At the same time, I would like to mention the arrival of a little one for Charlene and Klay today. They took possession of the newest member of their family around 1pm this afternoon.

As you know, Klay was with Felicity before he was with Charlene, and he figures Charlene wouldn't be too receptive to naming it after a former Girl friend, But they are working on a name for the new one,  Klay figured because she was easy to get on and easy to get off, is fast and rough, that they should name it SLUT. Charlene believes that to be a little crass, Charlene figures she may be fast and easy but she is still deserving of a decent name.

Any ideas?

By the way, if you are interested in sending any gifts in celebration of their new arrival...here's some ideas.

Forward Controls,
Bicycle seat,
Ape Hangers.
