Blue hair

I was talking to someone the other day and I mentioned my new girlfriend has blue hair. He looked at me rather incredulously and said, "Blue hair?"

Then he went on to tell me I wasn't that old, I should be dating someone younger thanshe is. I asked him what the heck he was talking about, I am 51 years old you know, What does he mean by dating younger?

He told me I should find someone attractive and young, someone that has the same interests.

I told we do have the same interests, she has a bike.

He muttered something about power chairs and walked away.

For the life of me I don't get what he was talking about... someone younger?

I think she's just fine the way she is,

Bikes ugly though,

Don't tell her

Change of positions‏

I regret to inform you that the Cropley's have decided to resign from their positions as Chairman of Tolland/Hartford (Les) and Web Site Manager (Adrianne) stating they just don't have the time. Being involved with Conrep, working full time jobs, and other issues in their lives have pushed them to decide the time has come for them to shed some responsibilities.
I want to extend my appreciation to both for all the hard work and accomplishments they have achieved for the good of the club. They have been core members since they joined the Club. It's with personal disappointment, that this time has come to pass. Adrianne built the hugely successful Web Site that we enjoy and admire today. Les has been one of our greatest Ambassadorrs for the Club, both have volunteered and worked every event the Club has ever produced. Though they still remain as Club members, change is often difficult to accept. Best wishes, until we ride together again !!!

Dan Docker will assume the title of Web Site Manager and is in the process of working with Adrianne for a smooth transition.

Mike Demers is the new Chairman of Tolland/Hartford County. Mike will soon be in the process of recommending a candidate for Road Sergeant, Co-Chairman, and a Scribe (meeting note taker).

HAVE YOU PAID YET?

Dues for the 2011 New London Motorcycle year are due this Thursday, March 31st, 2011. I would like to have the paperwork filled out, but if you don't have it with you when you come to the club to pay, do not let this stop you. As long as no information has changed, we will still take your money either way. If you have not paid yet, and are planning on it, please make sure you get your money in by this Thursday. If you have a special circumstance (I.E. financial reasons), please contact one of your Executive Board members, to state your case.

Thanks,

Memorable MC: Triumph Thunderbird 650

Helping Japan

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) motorcycle production facilities, located in Akashi, did not sustain any damage from the recent, tragic earthquake centered in the northern part of the country.

To provide support to those affected by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, the presidents of all of the U.S.-based Kawasaki entities are collecting donations from employees and forwarding them to the American Red Cross. The U.S. organization will then forward the funds to the Japanese Red Cross, assuring distribution where help is needed most. Individual contributions by Kawasaki employees will qualify for the Kawasaki matching gift program.

The Kawasaki Good Times Foundation is contributing $50,000 to initiate the charitable giving campaign.

A surprise at work today

We are in the middle of moving to a new building (Toyota) and renovating the existing building (BMW). So I spent the day putting racking and shelving together at Toyota and ripping up carpeting and taking down items in BMW. Needless to say, while the day went by pretty fast, it was also a pretty grubby day. I looked like a dust monkey.  In the middle of the day we had a rather nice surprise, A Club member arrived at work with a Birthday cake for Jason, (tomorrow is his Birthday, and day off because of it). I called Jason up front where she gave him a cake with a picture of him on it. He was a little surprised and turned a little red. She also brought me a Little birthday cake, a Birthday cup cake (knowing the 50th is my birthday).

So I am writing this to say Thank you Judy, the lemon filled lemon cupcake was really good, and I did light the candle and blow it out.

I also want to tell Jim, if he gets Jason what I think Jason is getting for a gift...I wouldn't be upset if he were to get me a small one of the same. I need it to fit in a vest pocket.

Just a thought.

A side note, Jason was removing a mirror from the store wall today and broke it, that, I believe is seven years bad luck,

and adding another seven for the passenger mirror on the truck,

he should be pretty well shot until his 35th birthday.

What's with the dogs?

Dogs?   Yes there was a little diversion arranged rraigned for during the pavilion construction, Twas Dogs. Somethimes it seemed there were more than four of them because they were everywhere, take a step and you found them walking across the pavilion concrete, or out in the back yard. they even had to be dumped off the plywood when they found that the wood was nice and warm from sitting in the sun. Mostly though, what they did was play.

The Flamingo HAS RETURNED!!!

The Sarasota County Flamingo has again been placed in it's place of honor, it is back in the pond. After spending last winter either lying on the ground out back or stuffed in the cinder block pile, Sierra mushed her way into the muck (boots) and placed it back where it belongs.  And unlike Sandwich, she managed to do it without going wading in mud.

The "Dauntless Rider" Trophy was found and...

The "Dauntless Rider" Trophy was found buried in the shed sharing a home with mice, it has been cleaned up and awarded.

As you remember the award was issued to Jerry Miner at last year's banquet, but the trophy was believed lost. It was uncovered and cleaned up and today Jerry received the award and has the proud honor of displaying it in his house until another rider earns it.

For those of you who are not familiar with the award, it is the one award you don't want to win. The trophy is awarded to the one rider who went above and beyond at damaging himself or his bike due to a crash.

Last year there were three in the running, Tom Llorett who was going into a turn and Old Red decided to fart and put him on the ground, he luckily received no real damage to his bike or himself so he was awarded a crashing sucks pin as a runner up.The second person in the running was myself, when I made a turn in a parking lot only to find the pavement was coated with tire shine and car wash soap. The entire left lower side of the bike and the front fender had to be replaced. Luckily I too received no personal damage. As a runner up I also received a Crashing Sucks pin. Jerry received a Crashing Sucks pin and a framed award as the "Dauntless Rider". He managed not only to put his bike down hard and fast due to sand he also managed to damage the bike and suceeded in slamming his shoulder to the ground breaking his collar bone. So with him at the work site today, The VP awarded him the official Trophy.

What else was done today?

Work concluded on the memorial flag pole, and the flags were hoisted over the site for the first time.

All that is left to do is to get the Memorial Nameplates and the flowers.
