So what did you do today?

The sun was shining, you could stand and actually feel the warmth on your face, something the sun hasn't done in a while, it sat up there all winter, giving you bright days, but it was as if it was keeping the heat to itself. Today though, was glorious.
First thing today I got up and burned some stuff, I like burning stuff, then I headed out on the bike for cigarettes and to give the bike a wash. Around 9:15a Reuben (the guy, not the sandwich) retrieved his bike from my shed, adjusted the chain and we headed out to meet the Club in Montville.
The parking lot at Dunkin Donuts was pretty well full (of course there is ALWAYS room for more). Not a shabby turnout at all.
At 10am Tom lead us all on a zig zag tour of the eastern part of the state. Route 32 south to 163. Left onto Chesterfield road to Rte 85 (New London rd). Route 85 north through Colchester to Rte 66. Right on 66 to rte 87 (Norwich Hartford Turnpike) east to Lebanon. In Lebanon we turned left on the Beaumont Highway (289) and headed to Willimantic. In Willimantic we took 32 south to Windham and Windham Center rd. (203). 203 to Scotland road (rte 14) followed that into Plainfield and Main street. In Plainfield we picked up rte 12 to 14a and followed that through Oneco to 14. A left at 14 and a left into the parking lot Weidele's Pizza and Pub.
After Lunch it was decide to take a cruise to burn off some of the food, and per the norm the next stop would be ice cream. So 14a to 49 to Ekonk Turkey Farm. Took longer to type it than ride it.
We stuck around at Ekonk for a while, enjoying the weather and talking, watching traffic go by. A lot of bikes out today, I don't remember the last time I had to wave to an oncoming bike, riding in winter you find yourself pretty lonely out there.
Leaving the turkey farm we headed south down 49 to Voluntown and a stop to top off any bikes that may need it, from there we continued down 49 to rte 184 in North Stonington and headed west towards New London with members of the Club dropping off to head their own ways as we went.

So we had a great day of riding and I hope whatever you were doing you were able to enjoy the weather as well.

Remember Sundays are ride days so feel free to join in.

klay
