Road Guard wear

There has been confusion at times regarding Road Guards. It has been brought to the E-Boards and road Captains attention that the Road Guards are indistinguishable from regular riders and have caused cases where people have been confused as to whom to follow. There have also been cases where members riding behind the guards have almost collided with them when they slow and break left to hold a left hand intersection. For this reason both the E-board and the Road captain have met and discussed a different outfit for the Road Guards to wear so that they stand out.

One of the first ideas was the use of bright colored shirts such as the one shown here.

Unfortunatly this would require the road guard to know ahead of time if he was to be used as a gurard prior to leaving for the ride, or each guard would have to bring a shirt along to put on if they were to guard. The other problem is this would restrict bright shirts to the guards alone. And in cold weather or rain the shirt would be covered and not feasible.

The next idea was reflective hats,
But with some of the guards wearing helmets these would not always work, but the use of a pull over could be added

Another idea was to utililize refective vests

These are available with different refective patterns and styles

Vest would stand out but they offer little distinction from the side, so it was thought guards could wear the combination of items such as vest and hat or instead of the vest perhaps a full suit.

But once again there are many rainsuits which look like this and again it could cause confusion, So the E-Board and Road captain have come up with the new Road guard uniform, It will be both visible and at the same time stand out from any other riders in the Club.

So here you are... Tom got the road Guards together for a group photo,We proudly present the new New Road Guard uniform for your approval
