The Grand adventure

Qui Xiayang Ho worked hard all his life. For most of his life the thought of visiting another country never occurred to him, But his country had recently become more Capitalistic and open. So after many years of hard work making shoes in his country he had finally saved up enough money to go visit the United States of America. He went to the local Government office to secure the correct paperwork to apply to be able to  travel across his country and the correct papers to travel abroad. He filled out all the applications, delivered them back to the government office and went back to work while he waited for his application to process. One month later he was notified that his trip was approved. He gathered the papers and his family, and headed for the airport. And later that day he was amazed as his flight lifted off and he left his home country of China behind for a grand adventure. Once his plane landed in the United States he and his family visited what he had heard was the greatest city in the world, New York. While there they ate strange American delicacies  like Hot dogs, General T'so Chicken, sweet and sour chicken and Monkey meat (Teriyaki beef). They bought Tee shirts, sneakers and souvenirs of their visit to New York, a miniature Statue of Liberty, a miniature Empire State Building.
Then done with their visit, with the time up, they boarded their plane for the long ride home...at which point...Reuben wants to know...At what point did they read their souvenirs and Tee Shirts and such and find that every bit of it was Made in China, and how depressed were they when they realized they could have gone to Shanghai and bought them for a couple yen?
