A splash and a dash

A group of the Club got together today at Dunkin on Colman street, We had coffee, talked about a few things, including Donna Cleaning house last night in Poker, yep she swept the field. After the talk we jumped on the bikes and a couple cars and headed to Ocean beach to watch the Penguin Plunge. The temperature was in the low forty's and I'm sure the water wasn't too warm either.

I can say that Rick did as he said he would and  he and Chelsea (friend of Chelsea)  took Jim Sullivans place in the dive and he did it with gusto. Dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2, they took off down the beach. Rick was at full stride and did a perfect headlong dive into the water. When he came out of the water he said that if he had to describe it in one word, the word would be shocking.

After the plunge he dried off, got on his bike and headed for the Gym. Jim and Tom went off to plan the Montville Poker Run route and Joe Fogerty, Jim Scarritt, Rich Woodhall, Dave Adams and myself went for a ride. Joe led us across the Thames onto 184, at the State line we jumped on the highway and then got off at exit 1 onto route 3 in Rhode Island. We went up route 3 past Oceanstate Harley to the "Middle of Nowhere Diner".

After eating copious amounts of fried and unhealthy food Joe headed for 102 and 14, while I lead the four of us home. We took route 3 back to Hope Valley where Mister Woodhall jumped o the highway. We continued on 3 to Hopkinton and turned onto Clarks Falls rd over to Ct rte 216 and Denison Hill road. We followed Denison Hill to Putker, Crossed over 49 onto Grindstone Hill, to Hangman Hill, then Chester Main to Wyasupp and onto Main street in North Stonington.  We crossed rte 2 onto 627 to 201 and at Whitford rd, Jim Scarritt and myself turned off as Dave Adams went straight down to 184.  Jim and I proceeded west on Whitford to Wolf Neck onto Shewville, up Gallup Hill, turned onto Wendell Comrie, crossed onto Lambtown and took that to 117 where we turned south to pick up 184 to I-95 and New London. I believe we all had a pretty good time.

One note though, On the way into Rhode Island we jumped onto I-95 for a short distance, Rich Woodhall pulled out of formation pulled up alongside Joe Fogerty and indicated an issue. Joe pulled off on exit 1 as planned but then immediately turned into the Commuter parking lot. It turns out that Rich, being concerned for his fellow riders, wanted to make sure Dave and Myself could put on our helmets. (Which neither of us had with us.)  You see Rich suffered what is commonly referred to as a Brain Fart. He was in Rhode Island but thinking Massachusetts. After laughing at Rich we proceeded on.
