Can You say Sfogliatelle?

If you can't don't be worried, few people can.

About three years ago I stopped in at  Maggiafico's Pastry Shoppe in Plainville Ct. (corners of East Main street and Pine extension). The woman behind the counter pronounced the word four times for me, I told her "That sounds foreign, is that foreign?"  She thought that was pretty funny, then told me it would be easier for me to just say Clam shells, that's what most of her customers do.

Sfogliatelle: A flaky, multi-layered, clam shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese and diced citron fruit.

Very yummy day one, rather tough and dry later.
