Beautiful day on a motorcycle

With the planned practice cancelled, the Club started arriving at Dunkin Donuts in "Uncasville" at around 9am for the late announced ride. The A.O.B. was set at 10am.

got the riders together for the pre-ride conference as we awaited the late arrival of

At 10amThe Club hit the road, We proceded south on 32 to 163 and onto 395 north. the club jumped off in Norwich onto Route 2 then 32 to 87. We continued up 87 through Lebanon, Columbia, to Andover where we picked up route 6. Headed east past Willimantic and North Windham to route 203 south. We followed 203 to route 14 in Windham and east through .

Just before Plainfield we took 14 "up", (anyone who knows the area would understand). For some reason the State of Connecticut has two route 14s at this location, one continues straight to Plainfield, the other goes "up", to Central Village. Both continue to head east, We took the "up" or "Black Hill rd". We followed the road through Central Village, Moosup, and out into Sterling to Gibson Hill road and Weidele's for lunch.

Leaving Weidele's we headed down Gibson Hill road to route 14, the other one, lower one, Oneco road. We headed west to route 49 and rode south past Ekonk to Voluntown where we stopped to allow those who needed it to take on fuel. The next stop was on route 165 at Buttonwood Farms for

,
water or just a chance to shoot the bull before heading home.

When we finished the crew began to break up, Rich and Nellie headed west then north on 201 through Glasgo, Rick and Drew went west on 165, while the rest of us took route 201 south, Tom called for single file on the twisty section so everyone could enjoy the road before calling for staggered again when the road leveled out. 201 took us south to Route 2, and 2 to route 214 at Foxwoods Casino. Tom again called for single file leading into the hills and curves on 214 as the Club headed for 2A and the bridge. Myself and Reuben broke off for a little of our own road cruising down past Long Pond on Lantern Hill road, and from there it was 27 to 184 and on to Jerry's House (he wasn't home) then into Mystic for coffee before we each went our own ways.

Epilog: This was the first "Club" ride for me with the new bike (2010 FLHX). This is my first Harley, I have had two Yamahas, two Hondas and a Triumph, and I can honestly say...I never "plan" on riding anything other than a Harley, ever again. Smooth performance, great cornering and torque to spare. Absolute... heaven.
Harley...It ain't Hype
