16 bikes and only one on the ground

Monday night practice was well attended 16 bikes rolled in. Everyone participated at one time or another. Tom took a few of the riders through basic riding 101, and I joined in to practice with the new bike. There was one mishap where a bike fell over....BIG BIKE.  No damage to rider or bike, but the expression on the next rider in the shute was priceless, She was lined up to go, the bike ahead pulled into the box, stopped holding the bike upright then moved forward and to the right in a confined area. (Tom finds that telephone poles keep people from running wide and ad a sense of confinement), as he made the turn the bike toppled over. The rider in front of me turned and looked at me with a look of apprehension, I looked at her, smiled and said, "Don't do that."  (It's always good to re-enforce a riders confidence.)

The Pelican LIVES!!!

The Pelican that was in the pond, and was washed out to the middle has been retrieved. Reuben rolled up his pants and set off into the swamp. Using boards he slowly made his way across the mud. About halfway across he lost his balnce and stepped back, planting his right leg in the mire, for a moment he looked as if he may have been on his way to sitting in the slime but he managed to hold his balance and retreive the object in question. The silt he wallowed in seems to have not been disturbed in many years and the fragrance from ages of rot and decay filled the air...and his boots.

Below are some Smurph shots of the evening.
