How about a different kind of ride

So, let's say it's Tuesday, March 19th and you want something to do...how about a short 63.97 mile each way ride. Now hear me out.

The departing point would be S. Water street in New London. You pull forward 50 feet, get off your bike and enjoy a one and a half hour boat ride across the scenic Long Island Sound. You arrive at Orient Point take a relaxing 46.21 mile ride down route 25 or North road, passing through Cutchogue, Mattituck and Riverhead. Then swing south-east through Southport and Hampton Bays, circling Great Peconic Bay, then arrive on Hampton road in Southampton, at the Southampton Fire Department. Once you are here they are going to feed you FREE Clam chowder, all you need do is roll up your sleeve and give a little blood. After sitting around a bit,(so you're not dizzy). you can make the return trip home.
MV Cape Henelopen

Not a bad way to spend the day, motorcycles, boats, and clam chowder.

Now...if you could find away to get people to go with you, say 20 or 30 other members, to blow off work that day and take that ride. NL-MC roles into Long Island Blood Drive in force....How cool would that be?

I....have to be at work, otherwise...I would do it, just because it would be cool.

Side note: The Cross Sound Ferry MV Cape Henelopen has had a rather interesting career.
At 327 feet and with a capacity of 90 vehicles and 900 passengers,Cape Henlopen is the longest in the fleet. She was originally built as the World War II  tank-landing ship, USS LST 510, and landed on Omaha Beach during the Battle of Normandy invasion, for which she has received a battle star. Following her military retirement, she was converted to civilian ferry use.

Check out her history from having her keel laid as the Buncombe County to present day at:
