From the President

I probably don't have to tell you about the devastation resulting from the storm. The Town of Westerly was literally under water and power was out throughout. There are endless road closures everywhere. For this reason there will be no organized Club ride this week. We haven't officially started the Thursday night rides from David's place yet for the season. However, David's is open for business and if you want a chance meeting with other members and pehaps attempt a short ride you are on your own.

There will be no scheduled Club ride for Sunday this week for the same reasons. But, again if you want to make a trip to Dunkin Donuts for 10:00am for a chance meeting and maybe a short breakfast ride, you are on your own.

The only main roads that I know of currently that are washed out is Rte 184 in Stonington, Rte 1 in Groton at Poquonock Bridge, I 95 at the Elmwood Ave, Rte 10 exit, half of Westerly. I would avoid Westerly and Mystic/Old Mystic. Hundreds of secondary roads are closed or are in rough shape. If you attempt to ride on a road you haven't checked out by car, check for the potholes, gravel, sand, and broken sections. I would stay to the major roads and stay off secondary roads.
