Klay reports:
One of my employees received a call on his Cell phone at work
today, from someone (Indian Accent)
saying they were calling from Microsoft Windows and they detected a problem
with his computer. They instructed him to open a program run window and type in
a command. He told them that he did and nothing happened. They had him attempt
it again, again he told them nothing happened. They had him do a restart and
try again, he told them after waiting a few minutes that he had done the
restart and they had him try it again. Again he told them nothing happened. The
person on the phone said they were going to get their "Senior
Supervisor" on the phone. The Senior Adviser instructed him to open
www.fastsupport.com. he told them he did but the page just keeps loading and
won't open. They asked him to check his connection, he told them it must be
good because Google search opened.
After 20 minutes of wasting these scumbags time, he told their
scamming asses the truth, that he hadn't done anything, he doesn't own a Windows
computer he owns an Apple MAC, and that they should take their thieving asses
and go "F" themselves.
I googled "fastsupport", it is an access website and
the program they try to have you run allows them to remotely access your
computer and steal any information they wish, also allowing them to be able to
send information, e-mails, and viruses from your computer out into the Web
leaving you as the trail for authorities, (sort of an electronic mule).
If you receive a call from these bastards, don't do as they
say, you can by all means do what Carlos did and play them along dragging out
their time so they are not screwing someone else.
A simple thing to remember; have you ever heard of anyone accessing your computer, telling you
that you have a problem and fixing it for you? NO.
According to some of the scam forums, these Assholes also
identify themselves as local Computer sales and service agencies.
