Saturday ride report

I have to start the Saturday ride report from the point of waking up, that would be Friday. Woke up at 5:45am, went to work, got out of work at 4:30, went to the casino in Rhode Island, left money in Rhode Island, came home did dishes, fed the cat, played some video games and watched a couple movies. Jerry miner called around 7 am so we got on the bikes for a ride and breakfast. Filled up the bikes, I picked up two bottles of 5 hour energy and we headed to Dunkin on 32 for the AOB.

The Club turn out was surprisingly light for such a beautiful warm day of riding, but then I guess a number of people were stuck at work. Dave lead the run with Margo on the Back, The Prez and Secretary followed. There were a total of eight bikes, with Joe Fogarty, Lane Ventura, and Ernie Thody between the E Board and Jerry and I. We pulled out of Dunkin at 9:30, ran up 32, crossed the Thames on 2a then ran 12 north into Laurel Hill to the American Legion Post. We registered, picked up a couple non-members on a BMW and headed south down 32 to 2a, back across the river, then 32 south into New London for our first stop at Stashes, (K-Clubs). From there we headed down along the river, over to Ocean Beach, across Peninsular Avenue and picked up 213 past Harkness and up to route 156. Route 156 lead us through Niantic to our next stop which was at the Lyme Tavern (10 Clubs) and a hot dog. Then we continued west on 156 to Four mile River road and a right on route 1. We followed Route 1 to 161 at Flanders and made our third stop at Smokey O'Gradys and our third card (2 Clubs). A left out of O'Gradys and up 161 to 85. At Salem 4 corners a right on 82 took us to 163 and the fourth card at Shorties (King Hearts) and a double shot of Jack Honey. From there it was up 163 into Bozrah route 608 which took us to route 2 into Norwich at Backus. We took 169 and Hunters road into Taftville, then turned south through Norwich on 12 to Street Stuff (2 Diamonds). With the last card on hand and no one sporting anything promising we decided to forego the run to Buttonwood and instead ran down 12 to route 2 (shy the pair on the BMW), grabbed route 2 to Foxwoods where we made a Dunkin stop. Then 2 east to 214. 214 to Ledyard center, 117 up through Poquetonock and 2a. A took us back to 12 and we returned to the American Legion.

The spread they put on was absolutely great, Pig Roast, Chicken Quarters, Salad, Potato Salad, Jalapeno or plain corn bread, corn on the cob and Jambalaya. After eating and chewing the (pork) fat, Jerry and I headed home, 2a to 117, to Col. Ledyard. I stopped and filled the tank in preparation for Sundays, ride. I did some laundry, visited my mother at the nursing home, came home and at 8pm laid out my cigarettes and ashtray, made a cup of tea, turned on the TV and sat back on the couch...

Woke up at 6am this morning to a cold cup of tea.
