Mama's Day ride

The morning started a tad on the damp side with reports of it pouring in Norwich Ct. Taking this information in Hand Dave Adams postponed the ride for one hour, the 10am AOB was now at 11am. The group rolled off on time with six Club bikes and nine members, (plus a non-Club bike which disappeared in Colchester).

Dave took us out Raymond Hill to 163 to 82. We followed 82 into East Haddam where we picked up 149 to 16 in Westchester. He followed 16 to 85 and we made a stop on route 66, before continuing up 85 to 44 in Manchester.  The Middle Turnpike took us to of all places Adams street then Buckland Street and the Texas Roadhouse for a Mothers Day lunch. After leaving Dunkin the sky cleared up fast and it was mostly Blue skies and sun from then on. My Bone in Ribeye was fantastic and Kaitlyn was enjoying her lunch until the hair appeared in her "Loaded" mashed potatoes, (be careful when you order loaded, you can never be sure what it will be loaded with). At least for Kaitlyn's sake it wasn't a curly.

Kait and I left right after eating and we made a stop at Munson chocolate. This was fortunate because had I not been stopping my normal cruising speed there could be referred to as excessive (at least in the eyes of the law). Coming down the hill into Munson Chocolates there was a State Police car sitting...waiting...like a nasty hairy spider for the next poor slob to come over the ridge. We were in Munson Chocolates for about 10 minutes and when we left the Statey decided we might need following, so from that point to route 316 in Andover it was 50 miles an hour. Turning onto 316 took care of him and allowed a little more throttle work. 316 to 66, 66 to 85, 85 to 207. In Lebanon I hooked a right on North Street (much to the disapproval of Kaitlyn, whom it would appear doesn't care for the extracurricular attributes of gravel roads). We bumped along North then made a left onto Goshen Hill, then onto the East Hebron Turnpike . That took us to Waterman then 608 to Fitchville Ct., Haugton road to 163, which we took to Raymond Hill and her car.

The ride today was enjoyable, the weather fantastic and the company, well...it was Club brothers and sisters, how could it be bad.

East Hebron Turnpike :  I'm assuming this road received it's name when the British were hanging about, First off, to call this a turnpike would be rather like calling Versailles (ver-sales) Ct. a City,  Secondly: naming the "Turnpike" after Hebron, (no offense intended) is rather like naming route 1 between Pawcatuck Ct and Westerly RI the "Pawcatuck Interstate". The road is (according to Google) one point five miles long and at the posted speed (?) should take 3 minutes. (HA)

But the ride back did as I intended, once we hit North street Kaitlyn had no idea where she was.

Side note: even if it had rained a bit, (which it didn't) it would still have been better than riding dressed like this:

Thank God for Spring !!!!
