I have the wondrous joy of giving out helpful information and tips.
Today's lesson Boys and Girls is called...
"Bringing what you need all the way to where you need it"
When you are setting out on a ride, be it a quick joint or a long adventure make sure to take your time before you leave. Make sure you have everything with you before you leave and make sure what you have with you is properly secured. It is an undeniable fact that the only thing worse than getting where you are going and not having brought what you need with you...is to arrive where you are going and find that what you brought with you isn't with you.
Picture yourself....oh let's say...heading off on a long ride to watch a football game or some such thing, placing all your things in ....oh..lets say a backpack. You pack it full, including things like a wallet or credit cards, gas cards, debit cards, licence and keys, maybe a change of cloths, a drink, a snack and a jacket, You place it on your seat, strap it to the back rest and when you get off your bike about an hour later, turn around you find the back of the bike empty.
This, you should agree, would probably not be an enjoyable feeling. A thing like this could cause you to spend that night and the next day riding along the highway, with your friends or family looking around for it. The next thing you know you would be parked on the interstate highway, walking back and forth bent over, looking to the rest of the world like a poor confused unfortunate walking along the median divider. This is the type of thing that makes people call the Police and the next thing you know you are not alone on the side of the highway.
So... a word to the wise. When you strap something on your bike make sure it is well secured, double up the straps, do whatever you need to and double check it. I am willing to bet it is not fun to have your back pack shredded along with the rest of your items and having to walk around as traffic flies by looking as if you are on a demented scavenger hunt. Plus you get the added joy of being at a hardware store the next day having keys made because the ones that you found are a little mis-shaped. Traffic is not a wonderful thing to luggage of any type.
Double check your load, triple check your load. No one would want this to happen to them. Of course having these things happen...
Gives me something to write about, as I have said...I have a wonderful job.
