Catching a little air

Chason Lewis was minding his own business cruising along route 412 in Pawnee County Oklahoma when he found himself off the ground.

Heat is blamed for the pavement buckle. the highway is built with concrete sections and a rubberized material between the sections. Each section is 15 foot long and it is not unusual for the concrete to expand in the heat. Oklahoma has had several days with the temperature hovering around 110 degrees. when the concrete expands it can only go as far as the next section, when that happens the concrete pushes up against the opposing section making a ramp. the ramp mister Lewis found was 2 feet tall.

At mile marker 39, Troopers said, Mister Lewis hit the bulge, he flew 150 feet before coming back to earth then skidded another 222 feet.

He was flown by Medical helicopter to Tulsa hospital where he is listed as Stable.
