New Years Road Report

The roads at 7am this morning had frozen runoff in a number of areas but by 7:40 the temperature had come up enough so that most of those are now water. The roads by 8am were pretty good, but keep your eyes open near intersections for possible small sneaky patches. The parking lots at Goldys in New London and Dunkin at 5 Corners in Groton are clear but the entrances from the road have a strip of packed snow ice. The strips are not wide but extreme caution should be used crossing them. My main concern was the parking area at the beach. The parking area is clear all around it's perimeter but the center of the lot is packed ice. The perimeter has more than enough room for parking and driving though.

The main issue with riding today will be the entrance driveway to the beach, from the road in for about 10 feet it is packed ice. The speed bumps also have ice where the plows thumped over the lips without scraping down all the way.
So... if you plan on riding today stay alert and Charlene and I look forward to seeing you.
