Groton — Police identified today the man who was killed Monday evening in a
motorcycle accident on Route 184 as 28-year-old Dereck D. Chaput of Ledyard.
Police said at about 5:53 p.m. emergency personnel responded to Route 184 at
the intersection of Cow Hill Road for a report of a truck versus motorcycle
accident.
Chaput sustained fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said
he was wearing a helmet. No other injuries were reported.
Police did not identify the truck driver.
The accident is currently under investigation
I would like to thank those who called to check on me because of the radio report of the accident in my neighborhood. Much appreciated.
One note though... They said on the radio..."was wearing a helmet"
This should be a give away that it is not me.
