An in depth look at this Sunday's official ride

There isn't one...so there, So..let me tell you what Thursday's Mystery ride was like...

A group of us met at David's Place, as usual, The Road Captain arrived with an ear to ear smile. He said he would be needing Road Guards and a sweeper. So we gave those things to him. the ride turned out to be a Road Guards dream, they got to do their thing all over the place and we tried Steve's new passing maneuver..more on that later (in another post).

We left David's at almost 6:30p, we were raring to go. We pulled out Bar to Bar and turned left on 85 then a right turn on Grassy Hill. We went single file, recovered the guards then continued riding single file down Grassy Hill, over the crests and dips and through the corners. We deployed guards for the left turn onto Whistletown and Upper Fourmile River Road, recovering the guards and continuing in single file we snaked our way around Pattagansett Lake, through Diabolica, then deployed guards again at rte 1.We turned right and followed the Post rd, past Goodwins Pond and Rogers Lake to Lyme. In Lyme we jumped on the Interstate, crossed the Connecticut River and picked up route 9. On route 9 we ran Steve's new passing blocking maneuver twice then continued on 9. Running north on the highway for the distance we did gave the illusion of going somewhere, we passed through Essex, Deep River, and Chester to route 82, deploying blockers for the turn onto 154. Up 154 and 82 across the River at Goodspeed,(East Haddam), climbed up the valley along the water and turned right on Palmer Martin road, then back onto 82,(Road Guards again). We traveled down 82 til we came to the 82 turn for the ferry at rte148 in Hadlyme, and instead of going left we crossed straight onto Brush Hill road. Down through the hills and a turn onto Mount Archer, Down the grades that would make a trucker turn around then a left onto Macintosh. The Road Guards again were used as the Club crossed route 156 onto Beaver Brook. We turned right onto Grassy Hill road (another section of it), as the sun was beginning to set and turned the hillside gold as we rode along it's side. We turned left onto Old Grassy Hill road, followed it down and crossed Beaver Brook onto Grassy hill where the whole ride started. We ran down to Route 85, a right turn on 85, and straight home, oh wait that was me, the Club crossed 85 onto Chesterfield road, then Old Colchester and to the Club.

We spent most of the ride in single file, each person spacing himself against the person in front so each could hold a continuous speed without haveing to brake for the bike in front.   All in all a Fantastic ride.

The only thing I haven't figured out is, I have ridden around Montville, Lyme, Chesterfield, Haddam, Hadlyme...you get the picture..., for years. How is it a Boy from Branford has to come up here and show me these roads.
