Six motorcycles left my place of employ on Wednesday at 430pm and headed across town to Wally World in Waterford Ct. to meet up with others of the Club heading to "Motorcycle Mania" in Middletown Ct. While waiting for all the members to arrive other bikers pulled in having made arrangements to meet there via Facebook for their ride to Middletown. Jim invited them to ride along but they were waiting for more riders. The Club left Walmart around 5pm with around 16 bikes, picked up 95 south to 9 and ran north.
Arriving at Middletown, the group ran into traffic that would leave all the bikes running hot, my StreetGlide went into overheat mode, meaning the rear cylinder shuts down and acts as an airpump to cool itself, this also turns the bike into a very rough idling bike. Arriving at Middletown We fell in line to pay the $5.00 donation before parking the bikes in the center of the street
Parking the bikes the members split up to walk the road, check out the vendors, and the bikes, plus meet and talk with old friends.
My favorite paint scheme
(had to combine two photos, people in the way.)
One of the Club wanted this photo
The plan was to leave Middletown at 7pm, and true to Club tradition...we didn't leave on time.
Traveling south a group of us headed to Ivoryton, for Burgers. Arriving at downtown we pulled into park in a lot at the bottom of the hill and the owner drove up and told us motorcycles could not park there,I mentioned we parked there last week and he asked why we were there, I told him we were having dinner at the Tavern and he replied, it would be o/k since we were....old.
Anyone in any doubt that we are not a kids Club, just park in this mans lot, and you will find..you are old.
We had myself, Rich W., Reuben, Jason, Jerry M, John K. , and Jim... I was third oldest, at 50, I mean I have gray in my mustache but old?... the guy must have seen Jim.
We chatted with Vinny's waitress, and she informed us Vinny had given her a lot of paperwork and information on the Club, Jim informed her she would be welcome to ride with the Club and said "I'm the President, which brought on some hair club jokes.
Inside the Tavern everyone had burgers, most had the little burgers,(bigger than the mini burger) I had a Tavern Burger and Reuben had the Monster burger (1 1/2 lbs of meat with toppings). The waitress asked about the billing, if we were all together or individual and when I responded we were each by ourselves Rich changed his voice and stated that I should tell the truth and we were a couple, at this point the waitress asked if he had ridden bitch.
But it was only Reuben and Myself that finished our meals. Reuben earned a free shot from the bar for eating a whole Monster Burger, and had the inside of a car bomb
Finished eating we kept our promise to the property owner and left quietly and picked up rte 9 to 95.
95 north at exit 72 we hit construction, so I lead the column down the breakdown lane past all the parked vehicles until we hit flowing traffic. I pulled back in line and held the line while the group reformed in the lane, I mention this only because as I held the traffic and Classic not with our group followed us in, I heard a "Hello Brother" and was surprised to find Dana bringing up the rear, I yelled to him and asked him where he came from and he responded "Middletown". Strange timing.
Once again a great evening with good company.
klay
We may be old, but we still ride after dark.
