The Weekend

This weekend was a little disappointing to say the least, as a matter of fact if the weekend were based on Saturday only, you would have to say it was lousey. Friday night brought the rain, and the rain wasn't content to end with the sunrise on Saturday but rather continue all day. I don't know what the rest of the club did but Another member and myself went for a walk along the streets of New London. This is what we found, nothing, If it isn't a restaurant or a Art shop, it is Vacant. New London is a collection of empty buildings. We did find one store open so we went in to see what was going on, sitting there in a darkend corner of this partially lit clothing store we found two people eating breakfast. With one of us lying down on a bench (need I say who) we chatted with the owners of the store (who by the way appologize for missing thursday nights meeting but they forgot that it was Thursday on...Thursday) after a while we headed back out in the rain to continue our stroll through this thriving metropolitan area.

The sun rose on Sunday, (I think), It was light out but well hidden behind the clouds, the temperature was fair, warm even. After doing all those things I hate to have to do at home (any physical labor) I headed out for a ride on the bike, slowly making my way to DD on rte 32 in Montville. The Club had scheduled a Sunday parade practice, lunch and a ride for the day beginning with a 10am A.O.B.. At around 930a members began drifting in. After a discussion by the drill team as to how perform some of the parade manouvers we headed up rte 163 to Camp Oakdale, the only place I have ever seen reverse speed bumps. Arriving the club went right into playing in the cones before the drill team split off to practice hammerheads, snowmen, and other cleverly named patterns. The rest of us played in the cones awhile longer before breaking into a discussion on Club politics. I do have to say that watching the team drill they looked very impressive.

There is a rumour floating around that the drill team maybe switching to a new riding hat for parades. While I am not sure of the validity of this... Tom was sporting a version of the suspected winter riding hat.
