A run in the sun #1

Looking for a ride this Spring? Waiting for the first really warm day? The kind of day where you want to stay on the bike most of the day?  But just don't know where to go?  This is the first in a collection of rides I will post for just those reasons.

HOOTERS  Warwick RI

This ride starts at the "Friendlys" Restaurant in Norwichtown Ct. (Just off 395). Every good ride starts with two things so, Start early and have breakfast (1) and find someone to ride with this day (2) turn left out of Friendly's onto West Town street. At the stop sign procede straight across onto East Town street. Turn left onto Huntington, then left on to Scotland rd.Scotland will become High street in Sprague. Turn right onto rte 207. At the stop sign proceed straight across to rte 97 (Scotland rd). Past Salt Rock State park turn left onto Waldo rd. Waldo will become Station rd, part way up the hill there will be a dam on the left side of the road. Station rd becomes Jerusalem rd. Stay on Jerusalem rd to the end and you will be at Windham Center and rte 203. Turn right on 203 and follow it till rte 14. Turn right on 14 and stay on it through Oneco and into Rhode Island. When 14 meets rte 102 you want to continue straight across onto "Old Plainfield Pike" This will take you to RI Route 12 and no further. Turn right onto 12 , 12 takes you south along the west side of the Scituate Res., follow the signs for 12 and you will find yourself riding across the dam at the south end of the reservoir. Turn right onto 116 and follow it south to rte 117. Turn left onto 117 (gas here if needed). Follow 117 into Apponaug. Turn left onto Post road, a quick right onto LeWally av (Post rd Extension) (rte 1). Stay on this and you will cross in front of TF Green airport. The first right after the airport is (for some strange reason) named Airport rd. Hooters on left.

Leaving Hooters opens you up to many opportunities for return routes. 1A or 1 south towards Narragansett and Point Judith. 95 south towards Ct. 95 north to Providence and routes 146, 44, 6 all heading north and west towards home.

The part of this trip where we turned off Scotland rd (97) onto Waldo is optional, 97 will take you straight to 14 but Waldo is a nice diversion with hills and corners.
