Crazy Bikers in NYC

You have probably seen the video of the swarm of bikes on the West Side Hwy in NYC that had an altercation with a Land Rover. This event shows just how quickly things can get out of hand and how NOT to respond.

This video shows the bikes from above as they are passing through NYC
42nd St. and Tenth Ave.

Here are a bunch of clips of bikes headed to the same event those guys were supposed to be going to. The event was to ride in mass on Times Square. This video shows a bunch of bikes starting out from the JFK area and heading up the Van Wyck Expressway. This was my old stomping ground and it was rare to see any bikes on the Van Wyck Expy. If you follow the link, the first three videos are the Van Wyck. The others are the rest of the trip.

I must admit that the idea of bikes taking over the city where they are usually the ones watching out for cars, trucks and crazy cab drivers, is somewhat appealing.

In the third video they turn around and get back on the Van Wyck heading back towards JFK. This is the route we took to the Police M/C Skills Challenge last Fall. Except they don't get onto the Belt Pkwy and stay on the service road, South Conduit Blvd and then onto Linden Parkway into Brooklyn. At the gas station they head up Pennsylvania Ave. to Bushwick Ave. then down a bunch of side streets to the Brooklyn-Queens Expwy towards the Manhattan Bridge, but that's it.
