Nathan Woods died yesterday from injuries sustained in a practice crash at Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft Ca. while preparing for the opening round of the WORCS. He was airlifted to a hospital where he was pronounced dead after crashing on the motocross section of the track.

Nathan Woods has two World Off-Road Championship Series wins and a Gold Medal at the ISDE. Riding since he was 9 years old, he has competed with factory teams Kawasaki, Suzuki and Husaberg as well as with Zip-Ty Racing. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.

FLINT, Michigan — A 24-year-old woman is in critical condition today after an early morning shooting at a club on the city's north side, police said.
Kanalya Johnson was shot at about 5:20 a.m. today at the Boogie Down Motorcycle Club, 4210 Clio Road, Flint police said.
She was taken by her own vehicle to Hurley Medical Center.

There are no known suspects at this time, police said.

ANZA-BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK — Dwight Asmus, an avid motorcycle rider, had always wanted an antique bike with a sidecar.

Three months after finally making the purchase, the 68-year-old Valley Center man was killed while riding the 1970 Moto Guzzi in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, CA.

Friends who were riding with Asmus Sunday morning said the crash occurred during a turn on eastbound Highway 78, when a wheel of the empty sidecar came off the ground. As he tried to maintain control and straighten out, he struck an oncoming Chevy pickup hauling a horse trailer, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

“It just got away from him,” said friend Merlin Bianco. “He was in control, there just wasn’t enough time to make it all happen and clear the trailer.”
