Some one told me I should go to Rhino and have my pick up truck bed protected. Well I did and I have to say not only does it protect the bed but it protects the whole truck
Rhino Protection
It also helps protect the house.

If you have a few hours and nothing to do...
If the weather is nice and you want a ride, try this one...
River Road in Zoar leads to a tunnel. If you have never seen it, when you arrive at the railroad crossing there will be dirt parking lots on both sides of the road and a Railroad bridge over the Hoosac River. Park your bike and follow the tracks to the left. The east portal of the tunnel is there, the tunnel is 4.75 miles long and exits in North Adams.
If you don't like dirt roads, the return trip has two, When you get to route 8 in Hinsdale just stay on 8 to route 20. Upper valley Road, Lower Valley road, and Pluckett Reservoir are all dirt roads, Staying on route 8 will by pass them. But you my miss out some good scenery, especially if you like to see trains climbing mountain grades.

Mid day Practice
Chris, Tom Y. and I got together for some learning. I was
on Old Red and Chris was on the Clone.
New stuff we learned
1# practice on holding
the throttle steady through out the whole section.
2# a bit more speed (1/2 mph) helps in the dip of the turn also on the exit
through the cones.
3# fine tune the clutch and if done well you don't change it from the entrance to the exit of
the turn.
4# done right you could decrease power (pull in clutch) to stand the bike
up through the cones (exit gateway)
5# DON'T sit back on the seat, instead move forward with your shoulders and
lean slightly into the turn...yes commit to the inside of the turn
with your shoulders.
The range drew blood today (knee) not saying who. Two of the three bikes
present went down (so we can all clam to be the lucky one.)
Remember this is a timed event as well as a skill event, so being perfect
and slow still makes you a loser.
That is why I tried to increase the speed and
see what happened. Speed helped but not wild speed, you have to hit your turning
points or your screwed.
getting stronger every day

Where and why
My Sunday excursion was done for two reasons, one was to get a longer ride under my belt, having not been on a real cruise since last year I wanted one with miles. And after 312 miles my butt felt it.
The second and most pressing reason was to enjoy what I had before even if it wasn't complete.
I started the day on roads Rick showed me, up through the Scotland, Windham areas, then it followed a trip we had taken once before.

One requires another
I put a new accessory on the bike on Saturday.
It's rather nice, it has a use, the main thing I will be able to grab a coffee on the way to work.
It is the Harley Davidson Cup Holder.
I put over three hundred miles on the bike on Sunday, up through Mashantucket (we used to call it Ledyard), Preston City, Jewitt City, Willimantic, Stafford Springs, Monson, Palmer, Amhurst, Deerfield, Greenfield, Shelburn, Charlemont, Rowe, Florida, North Adams. Then south on 8 and 20, Adams, Pittsfield, Dalton, Hinsdale, Becket, Huntington, Chester, Westfield, Springfield. Hazardville, Ellington, Stafford Springs and home.
The new accessory meant I had plenty to drink for the entire trip. never thirsty, But I never stopped so many times I my life. So I am thinking of adding another accessory...
I just have to figure out how to mount it.

It just dawned on me why...
Right after I bought my Glide I tripped over the Harley Davidson Cross Bones at Oceanstate Harley in Warwick. I was instantly enamoured with it. It just struck a cord with me. I wanted one, not as a primary bike but as a second bike. There was something about that bike that pulled my heart strings, but I never really thought about why... Thursday I received my copy of J&P Motorcycle's "Vintage Catalog". There in the confines of the book I saw it, the Cross-Bones. Of course it wasn't the Cross-bones...it was a 1946 Harley Flat-head Bobber. It struck me...the Cross Bones was an attempt at resurrecting the past. Harley Named it wrong is all. Throw on some fish tail pipes, unload the up swept rear fender for a standard fender and there you are, a gas tank mounted on a bare frame, a springer, and a spring solo seat. I want one more now than ever, but...Harley stopped making it...again, and I still can't afford a second bike. But you never know, maybe I will be able to pick up a used one, or somewhere down the line Harley will roll another version off the Milwaukee assembly line. Maybe this time they will drop the cartoon skull and cross-bones and call it what it is...."The 46"

Did you go outside today?
The sun was shining, the air was warm in the eighties, and depending on where you were it smelled like fresh cut lawn or flowers or cow shit. All in all a fantastic day. Three of us had breakfast at the Equinox then ran west on route one to Ella Grasso tech to watch Tree and the cone wench at work. Then we headed to Plainfield and the Nation to have Tree's bike worked on. (Tree was working the biker schoolies so we had her bike and she was on a straight pipe Harley with loose drag bars). I mapped out the most direct route to Motorsport Nation I could think of, and went an entirely different route. I led as we headed up route one to Flanders across to Lambtown ext and the dirt road to Lambtown rd to Wendell Comrie, Gallup Hill, Town Farm, Shewville, route 2 east. Then hooked a left on 201 to Northwest corner to 164. In Jewitt City we took 138 east to 201 through Hopeville back to Jewitt City and route 12 to Lathrop to Excalibur and pulled up at M-N. Tree's bike went inside so we talked to Les and watched Adrianne teach more Biker schoolies.
From there we cruised up to 14a and headed west to 14, then at Martellos we picked up Lisbon road which we took to Gooseneck Hill. He sat around on Gooseneck (visiting) for a while then Crossed onto Bates Pond. We continued to 14 then took 97 to 6, then 203 to Jerusalem to Station, then Murphy Hill to 97. In Baltic we took Maple to High, then Washington to Broadway into Norwich before running east on 2.
We hooked a left on Ryder, crossed Wyassup onto Chester Main to Hangman Hill to Grindstone to Wyassup (yeah...it's called a circle).
It was a good ride with rare company.
