Meeting Report

Attendance at tonight’s meeting was on the light side. Perhaps that was why Thibs had so much food left over. Thibs puts a lot of time, effort and love into cooking for us, so he was understandably disappointed that his efforts weren’t appreciated by more members.

I have to admit that while I had expected to eat at the club tonight I did not plan well for it and was not able to do so. But I’m going to make a conscience effort to make it for the remainder of the season (The Pre-meeting Dinner Season.)

I hope you’ll join me as Thibs really does a great job and you can’t beat the price of only $8.00.

Dan Dunn reported on how planning for the Iron Adventure is coming for 2014. The American Legion is committed to making their participation bigger and better and to have enough steaks! They will also have dancing on the second floor of their building. The local shops will be staying open later and the vendors will be located downtown rather than at the main venue. This will enable more vendors, who don’t conform to HD’s rules, to participate. However; most of the events will be at a central location on the mountain rather than spread out as they were last year.

Dan mentioned that they were spending a lot more money on entertainment this year. Rich Jones advised that HD was bringing in their official band, Déjà vu, which plays at all their big events. Click the links below for a taste of what to expect, keep in mind these are not professionally produced videos.

Tom Lloret advised that there is no official club ride this Sunday. But as usual, if the weather cooperates and you want to ride, show up at Dunkin Donuts on Rt. 32 in Montville at 10 AM and you might find other members there to ride with.

As I reported in an earlier blog post, this Sunday is the showing of Why We Ride in Plainville. Tickets had to be purchased in advance and are now sold out. I know of 9 people who will be attending. We will meet at the usual spot (Dunkin Donuts) at 11:00 AM to get to Sliders Bar and Grill in Plainville for Noon where we will meet up with other members and some Hartford HOG members for lunch before the movie. I’ll be wearing my patch and suggest you do to.

Patti Dueller is making preparations for the Christmas Party which is on Saturday, December 14th at 6:00 PM. This will be a Pot-Luck Dinner, so plan on bringing a dish.

There will also be a Yankee Swap. If you want to participate bring a wrapped gift. The value of the gift should be about $15 - $20. When you turn in your gift you will draw a number. Once the game starts participants will go up to choose a gift in numerical order. If you are not the first person to go up and someone ahead of you has a gift that you like, you can force them to swap with you. So it’s good to be the last person to choose a gift. However; the first person to choose a gift will have the option of forcing the last person to swap. The way I’ve played this in the past the first person to pick a gift had the option of all the gifts after the last person made their choice.

Patti noted that this is an adult party and alcohol is usually flowing freely, so consider this if you were thinking about bringing children.

If you do bring children, be sure to bring a wrapped gift for them to open as the other gifts in the Yankee Swap will be for adults.

Surprisingly Vinny Yannone did not have a report for Middlesex County, but he did warn that as of 6 PM tonight for safe driving, keep in mind that there are

It was mentioned that Lane Ventura is doing well after having his hip replaced.

Kaitlyn Perry advised that she will be participating in the Samaritan Swim fund raiser at Eastern Point Beach in Groton on January 1st and that she has posted a Pledge Sheet on the bulletin board in the meeting room.

Paul Neves reported that Wreaths Across America will be this coming Wednesday, December 11th. A.O.B. is at 7:45 AM at the Waterford Walmart parking lot. They are reportedly saving 5 spots for NLMC members, so don’t hesitate to participate if you can make it.

We voted in a new member, Donald Alexander of Danielson who rode to the meeting on his 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. Sorry, I left the camera home. You'll just have to come to our next meeting and meet him in person, although he did NOT check off the Nice Guy box on his application, I'm sure you'll like him.
