Turnout was pretty good for such a cold night and the
clubhouse was nice and toasty.
Lane Ventura has been released from restricted duty by
his doctor and was at the meeting with his family. He appeared to be in good
spirits even though he’s still using a crutch to get around.
We heard a sound at roll-call that we haven’t heard in
some months. Wolfie’s back and making up for lost time with an extended wolf
call. Some suggested he spent a little too much time in the woods of Maine!
VP, Danny Dunn noted that he had just renewed our membership with the AMA and noted that this will be our 50th year as
a charter member. He suggested that we put together an article for American
Motorcyclist Magazine and find some photos of the original clubhouse and some of the
current clubhouse to include with it. I’m sure this will be a group effort and
anyone wishing to contribute will be welcome.
Road Captain, Tom Lloret, asked if there was any interest
in making a run to the AMA Hall of Fame in Pickerington, OH to commemorate our 50th
Anniversary and deliver the article. The ride should take about 10 hours and it
was mentioned that the club had donated a brick in honor of our founder, Ralph
Strong when the AMA Hall of fame was built. Response from the club members was
positive so keep this in mind for next season.
There was discussion about whether to proceed with our
Christmas Party on Saturday in light of the forecast for 5 to 8 inches of snow.
The final consensus was to proceed with the party. Many of us have already made
preparations and weather forecasts don’t have the best track record!
Tom Yuchniuk advises that the Club Jackets will be
available at the next meeting. Those of you who ordered one know who you are.
Those who didn’t and want one will have to wait until this time next year.
President, Jim Moran advised that we have large patches
in stock again. See the Club Secretary, Jason Moran if you need one.
The “Can” was passed around to support the Waterford
Fencing Club to which Zack and Harley Ventura belong. Evidently this program is
not funded by the school system.
Tammy Perry reported that she participated in Wreaths
Across America yesterday and had a great time even though there were only about
a dozen participants.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Tom
Yuchniuk suggested that we hold our 75th Anniversary Club Rodeo on
June 22nd this year. Last year we held it after July 4th and
it was quite hot standing on the black asphalt all day. No complaints were heard from Margo when her water balloon broke. Hard to imagine it being too hot on this cold night!
We voted in another new Vulcan rider from Danielson
tonight. Give Mike Warner Sr. a warm club welcome the next time you see him.
