Founders, No, Matunuck, No...

Enough of what it wasn't, lets see what it was. Since the Road Captain could not attend I planned a trip to Matunuck Rhode Island which went across Ledyard on 214 and 2, to 184, through Clarkes Falls, through Hopkinton and Kenyon and Shannock, and would finally arrive after about an hour and 45 minutes at Captain Jacks on Succotash Road. With rain scheduled for the afternoon this probably wasn't the best of plans.

As it turned out the Road Captain did arrive and due to the forecast a quick jaunt up 87 and 32 to Coventry and the Bidwell Tavern was the ride of the day. All year long we have been lacking Full Road Guard coverage, which is 4 Road Guards and a Road Guard Captain and today was no exception, except that we did have four Road Guards and a Road Guard Captain. The Formation lined up like this,

                                    Road Captain
                                                           Road Guard
                                    Road Guard
                                                            Road Guard
                                    Road Guard

                                                  Main body of
                                                   Club Riders

                                   Road Guard Captain/ Tail gunner

With the route we took we never had to deploy the guards and to tell you the truth this was probably for the best. Sending two Guards right and two Guards left to block an intersection so the ONE biker (non guard) and tail-gunner could make the intersection would probably have looked a little stupid.

We arrived at Bidwells, ate and drank, and made merry, Then headed out. One of the bikes left during the meal, Three went to visit Bub, three headed south. Being one of the bikes heading south we hit rain in Lebanon and Norwich, and New London, and Groton, and Mystic. In Mystic Julie and I dropped the bike and took the cage to Hot Leathers in East Providence to get her a set of chaps.

Ol' Red had a small issue, she broke (or lost) her kickstand spring so at Bidwells Tom leaned her up against the rail fence.
