KAYLEE

The Day paper called it: "Dinner with a side of good karma" and wrote:

         Oakdale - Tinkerbelle, Spongebob, princesses, painting, and coloring—this is the world of Kaylee Mullen. Her world, at age 6, should also include going to school and playing with other first graders. But it doesn't.
        Kaylee underwent open heart surgery in June and has been hospitalized since. Instead of attending Oakdale Elementary, she is at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain facing months of rehabilitation.
          Cynthia Lautenberger, Kaylee's kindergarten teacher at Oakdale Elementary, has organized a fundraising pasta dinner to help Kaylee's family pay the bills they have incurred. The dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, at Tyl Middle School on Chesterfield Road in Oakdale from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.
============================================================
        The New London Motorcycle Club gathered 27 bikes and 5 cars at Dunkin Donuts and rode up rte 163 to the school where the sound of the bikes arriving brought all the kids out of the school to watch. The Club ate and had a good time and the "Indians" team cleared the tables. One of the kids, in the performance of his clearing duties, came up to a table occupied by Danny, Paul, Myself, Ted, Wolfie, and Linda and said, "Trash?", Where-upon Linda turned to him and barked, "Who you calling Trash?" the stunned look on this pint sized bus boy was priceless. The table broke up, the kid moved on. I’m not sure if he figured out she was kidding or not, but we had different table clearers after that.
         After eating the Club headed to the club-house for the Thursday night meeting. The meeting was sort of relaxed since there was no VP or Asst. VP there. After the Road Captains report the meeting didn't go into its normal reports, old, business, new business, and good of the club. It was as Jim called it "Just business".
         No-one is quite sure where Steve was during the beginning of the meeting but about a third of the way through he raised his hand and asked if we had given the pledge of allegiance. After being laughed at and commented on by the entire club he stood up and gave the pledge he had some how not been conscience of earlier.
