Iron Adventure More Popular This Year

From the President

The Best Western Colonial in Ludlow is already booked for Iron Adventure. Being that most of our fun was generated from the hospitality of the BWC, I need to know if there is an interest staying further out of town or just pick another weekend and hell with Iron Adventure.  To be discussed at Thursdays meeting.

Best Western Colonial

The Colonial has 5 rooms left and the All Seasons across the street has 13 rooms left.
The All Seasons is holding 13 rooms for me until Friday. If you plan to go to Iron Adventure with the Club, I have a discounted price of $ 109.00 per night for those rooms. If I get all 13 booked I will try to get more at the Colonial. NOTE: These two hotels are less than 1/4 mile apart.

All Seasons Motel
CONTACT ME (Jim Moran) VIA E-MAIL ASAP WITH YOUR COMMITMENT FOR JULY 25th and JULY 26th by Thursday 01/30/14. After I know who is going I'll send a message for you to individually book your room with the information.

From The Beard In The Wind

It appears that despite its failings in its inaugural run The Iron Adventure is even more popular this year. Perhaps this is because people have heard about what a good time the NLMC had there last year.

Or perhaps it’s because they’ve heard about the event organizers' efforts to learn from their mistakes, including members of the motorcycling community such as our own Vice President, Dan Dunn, and member, Rich Jones. in the process of creating a better event this year.

I think it would be a mistake to change the date of our trip in order to secure rooms at the favored hotel and forgo the other benefits of the event which should be more substantial this year.

* It would show no support to those who went out of their way to improve the event for everyone’s benefit.

* It would support the hotel which made no effort (to my knowledge) of holding rooms or at least warning the club of how quickly rooms were being booked.

* It’s been said many times “The NLMC makes its own fun.” Having a nicer venue or special accommodations does make this easier, but it doesn’t stop us from having a good time. It’s the members who participate that matter most.

The obvious problem is that most of us do not have the time or means to make two away trips to Vermont this Summer.

While I have expressed my opinion here, it is only for the consideration of those who are planning on making the trip to Vermont this summer. I, myself, will not be able to do so this year and as such, won't be casting a vote on this matter on Thursday.

  1. Randle Perry, Margo and I are already booked at the same Ascutney Resort we stayed at last year, along with two other couples we are hoping to bring into the NLMC family. I think it would be a mistake to miss what could be a vast improvement in a HOG rally, just because the majority of the club can't get the same motel they enjoyed last year. We put a pretty sizable footprint down there last year, and will probably be surprised at what an improvement a year of advertising and planning can make. I'm looking forward to seeing those beautiful roads and seeing friends and family on the road.
