For what it's worth

There was some crying about the winner of the bike contest, but seeing as the votes were cast by the public, there's no room for griping.

The truth is, in today's legal vernacular this vehicle qualifies as a motorcycle. It's mainly legal jargon that allows this,  just as a Trike or a Can-AM qualify. It probably has more to due with insurance than anything else. The truth of the matter was that the first place winner:

Is actually a car, if it weren't.... Well...let me give you a little history.
This vehicle was a privately built copy and modification of a "Classic" Automobile, the "Morgan Three Wheeler". Here is a quote from the "Official Morgan 3 Wheeler site"

"The success of the Morgan Motor Company was founded on an icon, the Morgan Three Wheeler. This brilliant but simple design by skilled engineer and company founder Harry Morgan (HFS) became one of the most successful light-weight cars of the early days of motoring."

I have had the enjoyable experience of watching these cars in race action at Lime Rock Connecticut during the Historics weekend, They are a blast to watch.
These CARS were used in early racing including Grand Prix racing, now the truth of the matter is, they would have to be considered a car, by the world, in order to participate in those races. In fact the earliest models were referred to as
"Cycle-Cars"

I talked shortly with the owner of the above car and he said they based it on the Morgan but used a Moto-Guzzi power plant instead of a "JAP" and changed some of the design to improve it.

How you improve an icon is beyond me.
Watching these cars racing down the hill and around the final turn at Lime Rock Park with the driver leaning out of the side of the cockpit is a fantastic sight.
