A question regarding an earlier post

Well, the more I looked at it, the funnier it got. We have all been to fast food joints, and you can get your food "Super Sized", Well I have never heard of any real restaurant that super sizes. This strikes me as questionable, looking at this photo there must be at least one REAL restaurant that does, because not one fast food joint has Reubens only real places, and that means that a Real Restaurant Super Sized that "Sandwich".  They MUST have, first he has the "S" on his shirt, secondly,  He is something like a foot taller than the woman next to him and we know...No one, NO ONE can be THAT must shorter than Reuben.

If you haven't...Why not?   Have you looked outside? Everything is warm and wet like a....Well...we won't go there..but it is beautiful outside!  Sure it's foggy, sure it's going to rain, sure most of what was white is now brown and muddy...but hey...What was WHITE is now Brown and MUDDY..that means its warm...WARM!!!  

I have a suggestion for you, I know you want to go out but maybe you're at work...so do what I did...Take the bike to lunch...you should be back before it rains, and you get to get out of the building...ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE.

Need some place to go ..I did Kamp Dog.  Picture a Greasy thick juicy dripping burger smothered in Pepper Jack cheese, loaded with a pile of hot Jalapenos (red and green) smothered under a smokey hot Chipotle sauce...Mmmmmmmmm.

They list it on their menu as:
Jalapeno, Pepper Jack, Chipotle BurgerWake up your taste buds - then kill them!

But inside on the menu board it's called..the Boilermaker.

I had to get my fix in.

I took Charlene out about noon time today for a short cruise (very short-Lunch) Since it was snowing out the temperature was fairly nice, no chaps required and the jacket un-zipped. It wasn't bad..but being short...it wasn't great. But I can say the ride was the correct length of time because while the roads were just wet my return to work found that the snow was sticking to the parking lot. A tad longer out there and it would have been a very very slow cruise across the property into the bay. I can again confirm my philosophy though...

Snow sucks.

We need 7 rooms for Laconia. This year the NASWA wants 3 nights but I negotiated with one of the owners and waiting until next week for the other owner to return from vacation. If we get just the 2 rooms it will be across the road at the INN. The rooms there are actually nicer and larger, the parking lot is flat, but of course you are further from the lake. If I get a go next week I'll put a hold on seven rooms. Late bloomers may be out of luck.

The other day, I moved her outside to move some items around in the shipping area, She sat outside for about three hours. When I kicked her over her first response was to go BANG!  Kind of a starter crank, a Bang, then the starter winding down. (Chzee BANG wirrrrrrr). The next attempt was the starter crank, a ThaWHOOMPF, then the starter winding down. The ThaWHOOMPF sound is a back fire...out the carb. That includes a orangy bluish flame flash then a cloud of bluish smoke circling around you. (Mmmm, tastes great). The third attempt paid off, she started up and moved back in the building where we both belong. 

I don't know if the Clunks, bangs, flames and smoke are a Harley thing and they all do it when the Computer doesn't know what to do with extremely cold air or not. But Charlene does it and Felicity did. To be totally honest...I think the flames and smoke are ....

The dilemma of the ages

I suffer from the same problem that has cursed the planet for eons. Generations of man have come and gone and each has battled over this problem. From the time I was six it has been in my mind, sometimes as an active thought, fought over in endless nights of debates, and at other times it is just there, as a constant presence, surrounded in the blackness of the unknown. 

Today while at work, I sat in my office contemplating the millions of possibilities and after hours of thought ,I am still perplexed, still searching my mind and the myriad of avenues available...So here I sit....from the age of six....now forty-seven years after my first recollections of the thought permeated my mind...and still I don't know...

The Dog Ride

A.O.B. was set for the Club at 11am at the Dunkin on 32 in Montville.

At the meeting I talked to Tom and told him that since the day was suppose to be as good as it was, it was a pity to wait til eleven to ride. Danny, Reuben and myself were to have a 9:30 A.O.B. at the same place and take a longer ride meeting him in Durham at 12:30.

We met at Dunkin A.O.B. was pushed back til 9:50 (I needed coffee). From there we cruised north, west, and south (with a Craig stop in Willimantic (coffee). 

Open roads and cruising speed, what more can you ask for.


We were on the final leg, crossed the Connecticut River and came across the Distasios waiting for Tom at that Dunkin. We sat there for about a half hour before heading out. (Tom was on a different route). 

We arrived at Dunkin in Durham, watched Danny demonstrate a new parking procedure, called Tom and found that they had already been through and had just arrived at Guidas. 

So we followed along and joined them in Middlefield.

The weather today was fantastic, high fortys', we even saw a 50 pop up at one point. There was a tad bit of wind blowing about, on one strip we were cruising along at 50 mph and the flags were still blowing sideways off the bike.

What's in that Hot Dog you had for lunch?

Mechanically separated turkey: As the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) describes it, this "paste-like and batter-like poultry product [is] produced by forcing bones, with attached edible tissue, through a sive or similar device under high pressure." Unlike mechanically separated beef or pork, it can be present in hot dogs in "any amount."

Pork: Per 1994 USDA rules, any "meat" can be taken off the bone by "advanced meat recovery (AMM) machinery" that separates the edibles from the inedibles without smashing the bone.

Water: Hot dogs must be less than 10 percent water, according to the USDA.

Corn syrup: This common food ingredient—which is made differently from high-fructose corn syrup and has not been linked to the same health concerns—is often used to add texture and sweetness.

Beef: After the outbreak of mad cow disease, the USDA stopped allowing any mechanically separated beef in food.

Salt: A necessary mineral; each of these hot dogs contain about 20 percent (480 milligrams) of the recommended daily allotment.

Potassium lactate: Made from neutralized lactic acid, it’s a common meat preservative because of its properties as an antimicrobial, capable of killing off harmful bacteria.

Sodium phosphates: Any of three sodium salt of phosphoric acids that can be used as a food preservative or to add texture.

Flavorings: Under current U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines, most combinations of flavoring agents are okay to just be listed as "flavor" rather spelled out individually.

Beef stock: Meat stocks are usually made by boiling water with pieces of muscle, bones, joints, connective tissue and other parts of the carcass.

Sodium diacetate: A combination of sodium acetate and acetic acid, it helps to fight fungus and bacterial growth and is often used as an artificial flavor for salt and vinegar chips—and in the sodium acetate form, it’s found in instant hand warmers.

Sodium erythorbate: A sodium salt of erythorbic acid, it has replaced the use of sulfites in many foods and serves as a preservative and to help keep meat-based products pink. Some people report side effects, including dizziness, gastrointestinal issues, headaches and, if consumed in large quantities, kidney stones.

Maltodextrin: A compound made from cooked starch (often corn in the U.S. and wheat in Europe) that is used as a filler or thickening agent in processed foods. Brewers also often use it in beer.

Sodium nitrate: This common preservative helps meats retain their color and also keep foodborne illnesses, such as botulism, to a minimum. Animal studies have linked sodium nitrates to an increased risk of cancer. It’s also frequently found in fertilizers and, yes, fireworks.

Extractives of paprika: An oil-based extract from the paprika plant, it can give processed food color and increase shelf life.

Getting old

The last few days my right knee has been creaking, popping, snapping and grinding with a tad bit of what I like to call ouch. Last night I was told to try Cosamin DS. I was told I would notice a difference in two to three days, well, I noticed a difference in one day. The knee is a lot less noisy. Now, glad as I am that the knee is better I want someone to invent a fast acting pill that I can take at night and when I wake up in the morning I find,

1. The knee doesn't hurt
2. The herniated discs have mended
3. The Arthritis is gone
4. The Diverticulitis is healed
5. I have quit smoking
6. Lost 50 lbs
7. Grown a full head of hair
8. Non-Gray hair
9. I've won the Lottery
10. and lastly...nothing hurts

Just something to think about, so the next time you call up the street and order 14 pizzas you may as well add two more, because they give you one free for every four. 

I was hungry today and couldn't make up my mind what to order for pizza, so I ordered  

• 2 pepperoni
• 2 sausage and peppers
• 2 jalapeno and sausage
• 2 hamburger
• 2 specials
• 2 buffalo chicken
• 2 bacon

That will get me three free plain. This way I have my choice of flavors. I ordered two of each because I hate eating alone.

Actually we are having the meal because of the Holiday, it is after all Jan 18th, and as you know that is the third Friday of the month. A reason to pig out if I ever heard one.

There was a reply made saying, "Don't worry, he'll be back in a couple months".

I don't want to hear you whining

I've heard a few people complaining about the need for a Motorcycle Safety course before being able to get a motorcycle licence. Stop complaining, take the course, get your certificate, get your license and shut up.

If you lived in England I'd say go ahead and bitch, but over here it's just a course, then you can go out and get any bike you like.

England has a more rigid procedure, depending on your age the government determines what you'll ride, and your stuck in that group for at least two years. In the States we have an "M" endorsement stating you can ride a motorcycle, in Great Britain there are a few types and age bracket requirements. So your 16 years old and you want a motorcycle, well it will be a moped, then two years later you can move up to a class A2, then come A1, then an A.   You know what...Watch the video

But I'll tell you myself and save you time. After the meeting we decided to go to Dunkin for Coffee. Kaitlyn and I got on Charlene, Sandwich got on L'Orange. We backed out and Sandwich pulled ahead, there was a Klunk and Sandwich was lying on his back, like he was trying to make an angel in the snow except he was on pavement. Needless to say, Kaitlyn and I were in stitches, but lying on his back Sandwich was laughing harder than anyone.

How and why Sandwich hit the deck is unsure, but Sandwich said that when they put new tires on his bike today they adjusted the rear brake, he applied what would have been a little brake to make a slow turn and the brakes grabbed before he was ready, the bike stopped with him on an angle to turn and over he went.

Tom summed it best, he walked over to me and said, "He used to know how to ride a bike."

Don't you just love this weather?

      I do like one aspect of the snow, it weeds out the weak, sort of like natural selection. You can see it during every snow storm, thousands of people driving along, maintaining control of their vehicles, then there are the "Four Wheel Drivers" you know the ones, In good weather they go out and buy All Wheel or 4 Wheel drive vehicles and they cruise around feeling superior as they look down from their immortal heights at the lesser life forms running around them at their feet. They are the Vehicle Gods, they can run through Mud and grass and sand and gravel. Then...Winter arrives...They hit the roads and highways like invincible beings and you get to witness their smug stupidity as they blast by you in the snow and slush. They leave you behind in their wake as they sit upon their elevated thrones. Then....they learn a lesson...and you get to witness the fall of the mighty...they find they are not invincible. You can see this every year in places like Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, all along the interstate the mighty have fallen, there they sit, in all their glory, down embankments, entangled in guard rails, laying on their sides and roofs as the owner stands next to their mighty machine trying to figure out just what the hell happened. We can tell them, correct? It is simple, they were Stupid. Sure those fine over-sized vehicles are good for going through mud and sand, sure they can dig their way through snow, that's what they were designed for, They were not designed for ice or high speed runs on slush and slime. The design of the all wheel and 4 wheel drive vehicles is that you can get out of something if you are stuck, or they climb grades in slippery conditions, what the owners have to learn is that they will also get you into trouble as fast as get you out. On days like today we get to see it even way down south in Connecticut. It took me a half hour in traffic to get eleven miles on I-95, I didn't mind, I got to drive by two of the fallen mighty.
