I wasn’t able to make it to the show this weekend, but Klay
did and he posted the following report on his blog "It's in my Head and it Needs to Get Out" (http://07dyna.blogspot.com). I’ve
copied it here for our members to review.
Springfield
Took a trip to Springfield, Massachusetts this morning, for the Springfield Motorcycle Show. I took the kids with me, Julie and her brother Jeffrey, and headed up route 32 To 207, to route 85. We took back roads to Manchester then 384 to 91 to 5. The day started with a light snowfall on the coast but ended soon, above Columbia there was some snow on the sides of the road, Massachusetts had light snow cover in the yards and parking lots and on the trees.
the price to park for the show was $5, the gate price for adults 15 dollars, so $50 later the three of us walked into the Better Loving building.. There were a good number of vendors on hand which was surprising since my last trip to the show there weren't many. The show itself has shrunk,it used to occupy two buildings, this year it was just the one. I actually was a little disappointed in the shows size for the amount of money it cost, I'm not sure it was worth it, and next year I probably will not go back. Even Julie (who had never been to a bike show before) mentioned that it didn't make that much sense to spend all that money to walk into a show to buy something, when it took longer to drive there than to see the entire show. (It's kind of like having Walmart charge you to get in the store before you buy anything). Being smaller did have its advantages though, for one thing, because it doesn't take as long the check out the show, the turnover was quicker making it easier to find a parking spot cutting down the walking distance.. There was a good number of custom bikes on hand but not that many dealers. The one dealer they had, Victory, was right at the show's entrance, right after you walked by the Snowblower and yard tractor display. Haymond Law was on hand, with two booths, and the Haymond girls seemed to be in almost full attendance.Below are some photos.
Leaving the show and still having a day to kill we took route 20 east through Springfield, Wilbraham, Palmer, Brimfield and Charlton, over to Sturbridge and Worcester, before grabbing 146 south to Twin rivers.
To be honest I was a bit disappointed in the Samsung Galaxy 4S camera, I should have brought the Canon SLR. The phone camera left a number of photos unfocused, even after going through it's full adjustment setup. It also seems to have trouble with indoor lighting.
