From the President
07/13 The Club week started with Bubba Gowin's Memorial Service. The service was well attended and I am sure the family found solice with the number of members that turned out. Bubba got the Honor Guard treatment, w/bagpipes, and will always be remember by his Club family.
07/13 That night it was Jim Scarritt's fireworks party. A good time had by all.
07/14 The Annual Rodeo. Not as well attended as in the past, but our guests from the Iron Order and Riders of Fire made up the difference. It was a miserably hot and humid day and I am sure many decided to stay where there was air conditioning. I think a cooler date is in order.
07/15 The Club was notified of a sad tragedy. We lost one of our own to an accident. Randy Jacques perished that day on his way to work.
07/18 The Club attended the Wake to pay last respects. There were 70 plus NLMC bikes and 80 plus members in attendance, along with the Freedom Riders, Riders of Fire, Iron Order Westerly RI Chapter, Iron Order New London Chapter, and former SubVets MC friends of Randy.
07/18 Following the wake we had our meeting and I never have seen the Clubhouse so packed on meeting night.
07/19 The Randy Jacques funeral service. Again well attended with roughly 35 bikes and 40 members. Many took the day out of work to be there.
Again there was some Iron Order and a half dozen former SubVets MC, and biker friends. We arranged for a police escorted procession to the Quaker Hill gravesite with Montville Police and Road Guards handling the intersections. With probably 50 bikes and as many cars it took a very long time for everyone to get off Rte 32 into the cemetery. The procession was probably 1 1/2 miles long. The service ended with the sound of Bag Pipes, played by our own Tom Miskell and everyone returned to our Clubhouse for refreshments and food.
We also found out that Bill Duerrler's mother died this day. Our condolences to Bill.
07/20 Today we attended an Iron Order Pig Roast at Stash's Cafe. 9 members in attendance including April Jacques talked into going by Dave Adams, brought on the back of Dave's bike.
07/21 Beavertail Run
07/21 9:00PM a Bar Rescue TV Debut Party at Handlebars. Obviously be there before the 9:00pm showing on Spike TV
