Anyway, they don't go down there any more, it got too crowded and cars would not honor the boundaries. That doesn't mean they don't play any more...they just moved the show. They now play on Monday nights at the Club. They are actually practicing to take on the Metropolitan Police Motorcycle handling thing-a-ma-jig. Of course I have never seen one of those official challenges where there are two, or three bikes in the pattern at the same time. But two or three would be mild, When these guys get going it reminds you of the Circus Clown Car. You know the one...a tiny car pulls in and a crowd of clowns pile out, well at the Club there is a obstacle course IE: the Clown car, then instead of wonder how many clowns will come out you wonder how they can do those patterns with five or six or seven bikes in there at once, tonight it was eight. Here is what the show looks like...(lots of leaning).
As the evening wears on, the speeds increse a tad, the confidence builds and the smiles increase. Then there is that tell tail sound of a beer can being smashed against the pavement by a 2x4.
By far the best dismount of the evening |
I believe there was either 21 or 24 bikes on the ground this evening, and we have come up with a new award. It is the Tattered Harley Hat Award. It is given for style. While Steve Distacio would have taken the award tonight for Quantity, the award went to Mike Henry. Mike was flamboyant in his dismounts with double twists, end overs and the ever amazing 360 body twist, (seen above about halfway up. The hat will come back next week so Mike can have a chance to pass it on.
Sue D. got some great video of Mark Llorett going down on one side of the course then caught Evert biting the dust on the other side. Hopefully it will be forwarded for You tube.
