Last night was the first night of the Tin plate sign raffle. Tickets are $1 each or $25.00 for half of 50. Turnout for the Thursday meeting was light and the raffle reflected it, taking in only $19.00.
By the way, the word raffle has come to mean "to dispose of by means of a lottery" . Actually the word derives from both Middle aged English and French. The original word was rafle which was a dice game in which the prize could be won in one throw.
So you see, you have learned something today, granted it is a useless piece of information and having that worthless trivia taking up brain cell capacity will probably restrict you from holding some piece of important information in that gray matter storage area you depend on so much. Something like remembering to pay your phone bill or your mortgage.
The drawing will be held on Thursday June 20.
