Another Thursday night

We had a good turnout for last nights meeting, I don’t know if it was due to the Mystery Ride, the meeting itself, or the fact that most of the members are pyromaniacs. I would like to thank Ted for supplying the wood but I think next week we should go for a real tall stack before lighting it, that way people traveling on 395 can enjoy it also.

The building upgrading is moving along nicely, the concrete has been poured for the pavilion slab, and the sidewalks should be being poured today, Mike Henry has been busy and the pour on the slab is a thing of beauty, although in my opinion it needs tire tracks in it. The Doors have been placed and the drywall work is complete. Steve Natale has completed the electric work and Vinnie has the hole blasted through the wall and the outside faucet just about completed. The men’s room now sports a hand blower (dryer) and we already foresee a long line to use it to warm hands after winter rides. After hearing that the women are asking how come they don’t have one, one of the members stated (after determining none of the women were in earshot) that it’s a men’s club, of course he also stated he wouldn’t say that if his wife were around.

The musical Flag game continues!!! Last night the flag was in the trophy corner, next week it may be in the kitchen.

Thursday Night Mystery Rides!!! Are over for the year, forget about them, you lose. But members will still be meeting at “David’s Place” for supper before riding to the Club.

A couple items were brought up regarding riding, one has to do with Club Etiquette, When we ride we represent the Club, The Club has worked hard on building its image and like anything else people remember the stupid things done and forget the good in a heartbeat. So if you plan on flying down the roads passing vehicles like a complete lunatic, take off the patch before doing so. The other thing mentioned last night is a procedure for dropping out of formation, if you have to leave during a ride, if possible notify the Road Captain ahead of time, if you are not able to do so, get the attention of the bike next to you, give him an O/K signal and indicate you are pulling off. This way the Club is not looking for you at the end of the run, or worse yet stopping and sending a rider or two out looking for you. If you have a problem and have to drop out the tail rider should be looking for you, if you have power use your horn to get someone’s attention, if not use whatever means you have to get the attention of the person next to you.

This is the Weekend!!!

"Founders day" the Official Club ride, A.O.B. will be at 10am at Dunkin Donuts, the ride will run straight up 395 into Massachusetts, so helmets will be required before leaving. Arriving the Club will gather around the headstone and per usual Tom and Jim will say a few words. For those who are a little slow (like me) Founders day is a day remembering the person or persons who started (founded) something, in our case it will be Ralph Strong and his wife.

Finally I would like to officially Thank Mister Woodhall, I have been waiting for over a year to actually come up with something in the "Good of the Club" section of the meeting, last night was the night, I announced that mister Dunn and myself would be riding to "Twisted throttle" in Peace Dale RI a week from saturday to check price and availibility of Gerbing heated clothing, and that anyone interested should join us. At this pointy "Mister" Woodhall stood up and said," They're closed on weekends".  Four little words and my year long wait to actually promote some "Good of the Club" went out the window....Thanks Rich, just squash a mans dreams.

From the Sergeant At Arms

The NLMC has worked hard over many years to promote a positive image of our club as well as MC riders in general. We have earned the respect from many PD's, organizations and towns. When wearing our patch you are representing the NLMC.

When you ride with respect toward others, you are noticed! When you ride and draw un-necessary attention to our patch, it is noticed and reflects on the whole club.

While it is your right to ride how ever you like, you should respect the patch, the club and the members. If you need to ride recklessly or show off, then don't wear the club patch! We don't need or want any negative attention. As non-MC people already have a negative opinion of MC's and we don't want to add to that image.

If you ride and show respect then hopefully some of that good karma will come back to us.
