A Ride to Remember and A windham riders weekend

June 20 2009 The Club rode in support of another MAPS club when it participated in "The Ride to Remember". A light turnout once again showed the Club to be the major supporter in the area.

Thank your for your support

The Windham Region Riders committed to two events over this past weekend.

Last Saturday, we rode a Gate Keepers charity run. We showed our club patch and were thanked for our support. The president of the Gate Keepers approached me, shook my hand and let me know he appreciated us supporting their run. We once again cemented our friendship with our brother club.

Going into Sunday's run which was hosted by the Moosup VFW, with the help of the Windham Region Riders, we were concerned about attendance as we ended up butting heads with our club's Wrights Farm Chicken Run. Knowing how ravished for food our second vice president was and seeing how many others felt (saliva dripping from the corners of their mouths) we figured we would be lucky to be supported by a half a dozen club members. To our surprise, 26 club members showed up to either ride the run or help at the check points. Above is a picture of most of the members who rode the event, along with a few friends from BACA who joined us.

All in all, we did show our club seal in a part of the state we don't often ride in. We built upon an ongoing relationship with the Gatekeepers and made new friends at the Moosup VFW.

Again, thanks to all who supported us!

Windham Region Riders / The Dog Run to Chicks

16 NLMC club members represented our club in the Canterbury 4th of July parade

Bubba Gowin set this up, with the approval of Jim Moran, our president. This allowed folks the opportunity to ride in a short parade and show our patch in another region of the state.

Bill and Patty lead our parade on their beautiful Honda Trike. Gene followed them on his Honda "Quad". These machines really caught the eyes of the spectators. They were followed by an English Bike, metric bikes and a couple of Harleys (they rode in the back for a change!)

After the parade, Bubba treated us all to ice cream, then organized a fun filled 75 mile ride. It took us to back rodes in Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The weather was fantastic and the ice cream was great.

Thank you Bubba.

Thank all of you who supported this event.

Chicks

On June 10th the sun was shining again as the Club headed across back roads and down into West Haven to “Chicks”. The day was hot and beautiful, the kind of day where the tar on the road is sticky, you pick your feet up from a stop and they get glued to your footplates.

From Chicks the Club headed north into the wilds of Connecticut, what for you ask, Well the Club had lunch...so...it's time for ice cream...

This next photo I'll let you figure out...Superman and Sherlock Holmes?
