Rhode Ireland

It was brought to my attention that the Point Judith ride was originally scheduled for June 23rd.  The only change will be Chicken Farm because obviously, we can not go to two destinations in one day.  So here is the new schedule for Rhode Island Rides:

Sunday, June 23rd:  Point Judith Run

Sunday, July 7th:  Beavertail Picnic Ride

Sunday, July 21st: Wright's Chicken Farm (CHANGE)

Easy Chicken recipe

You have probably heard of Chicken Francaise or perhaps Chicken Marsala. Maybe Chicken Teriyaki, Chicken Parmesan or Parmigiana or Matterhorn Chicken. All are delicious, then there is Chicken lasagna or Chicken Kiev to add to the baked and roasted poultry delights. We though, decided we wanted something
different.

And it is real easy to make.

Take one package of Chicken wings, rub on them, salt and black pepper, add a little red pepper, a tad bit of Paprika, a dash of Cumin and a pinch of garlic. Place in a out door gas grille and grille slowly at low heat for about 1 and a half hours...

VIOLA!!!

Chicken Crematoria !!!

(I can say, this sort of thing never happened when I was cooking.

There's nothing like Chicken on the grille

I picked up two packs of 15 wings last week. We decided to cook one package today for lunch for the 4 of us. So we fired up the grille, put on the chicken and flavoring, sat back and waited. In case you have never cooked chicken on a grille you should know that chicken goes from almost ready to on fire real quick. Faster than quick when everyone gets busy with work.

A Wedding

Sunday that was 05/26/13

It was probably a good weekend for most, Sunday, Theresa, Danny, and I were to go to Massachusetts. Danny met me at the Mystic Diner for breakfast and a 9am departure. Unfortunately the Diner had the Monte Carlo Formula One race on the big screen and we got involved watching that while we ate, this meant we ate slower and because of that we didn't leave the restaurant until around twenty after 9. We ran up 27, then Shewville to Gallup Hill road. After the night's rain and because this road is tree shaded, the road was soaked and the debris from the trees (pollen, seeds, leaves etc) formed a mush which coated the road. I suffered from wheel slip, because of this the back of the bike had an occasional rooster tail of allergy enhancing bio cloud behind it. For this reason Danny backed way off because he was getting pelted. We passed through Ledyard Center on 117, I decided to stay on 117 instead of taking 214 because of the road mush. So instead of dealing with slippery slimy mush we accelerated onto scarified pavement from Ledyard Center to Poquetanuck. This was easy to deal with, except for a small section on the steep hill halfway between the two towns, when the scarifying stopped running straight with the road and ground angled right on the corner. After a little side drifting due to the grinding we were again screaming forward. At route 12 we picked up 2a across the river to 395 north. We jumped off 395 in Norwichtown to meet Tree. Then it was 32 north towards Massachusetts.

Unfortunately, by the time we hit Lebanon I was suffering from a Stiff neck and a headache. We stopped in Willimantic and I told them to go on without me, but they decided if I was heading back they were heading back. After the ensuing argument it was decided to head to Bidwells, I agreed, hoping I could relax the brain and muscles with the help of Mister Daniels. So I lead up 32 to route 66, then 6, then across Bunker Hill road. Having never been on this road, I wasn't sure where it would come out, But,  I knew that off route 6, I wanted to go right. After chasing the hills and corners and more Allergy Enhancing material in the air (which caused Mister Dunn no small amount of discomfort) we arrived at a fork in the road. Not knowing where I was, I chose the left fork and found that I had come out just east of Coventy Pizza on South street. A right on Cross street to Lake street then a right on "no name arrow road" brought us out across the street from the Tavern.

We ordered our meals and drinks and were in the process of having them served when the Club showed up. We sat around and talked a bit then headed home. The Jack had done little to alleviate the issue. Route 31 to 32, 32 to Dunkin in Willimantic for coffee (maybe caffeine would help - nope).

The Club rolled past on 32 as we drank and munched. We took 32, then cut through Burger King to 66. Route 66 to Cards Mill road, then Village Hill road to the Beaumont highway. the Beaumont took us to 87, 87 to 32 and into Yantic on West Towne where we made a stop to pick up Tree's youngun'. Then Wawecus to Ottrobando, to the New London Turnpike to Mohegan Sun. Here Danny split off on 32, Tree took 32 to 2a, I used the Sun's racetrack to 2A. Tree took 12 south to 214, I followed, she turned off 214 onto Avery Hill extension, I took 214 to Whalehead to Sandy Hollow, she followed by using Whale head from Avery to Sandy Hollow. At rte 117 she was again in tow so I took Lambtown across Colonel Ledyard Hgwy to Pumpkin Hill. She wasn't sure which way to proceed (Reuben had the same issue the preceding week), so I took her down Wendell Comrie to Gallup Hill to Shewville. I turned right towards 184 and home, she turned left for Wolf Neck and 201.

The pain in the head and neck were due to stress, The pain would only get worse.
Sometimes the only thing worse than not knowing what is going on with legal paperwork... Is finding out.

With problems heaping on and no one to call until Tuesday, the rest of the long weekend was ...

A Looooooong weekend.

Oh. I can't wait how about you

Forecasters predict an "above normal and possibly an extremely active" Atlantic hurricane season. NBC News' Chris Clackum reports.

By Elizabeth Chuck, Staff Writer, NBC News

Batten down the hatches.
Forecasters said Wednesday that the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season is likely to be "above normal and possibly extremely active," predicting three to six major hurricanes this season.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in its outlook that it forecast seven to 11 Atlantic hurricanes for the 2013 season, which officially begins on June 1.

"NOAA predicts an above normal and possibly an extremely active hurricane season with a range of 13 to 20 named storms," seven to 11 of which are forecast to turn into hurricanes and three to six of which are forecast to turn into major hurricanes, said Kathryn Sullivan, acting NOAA administrator.

Major hurricanes are defined as Category 3 or above, with winds of more than 110 mph.

The last time a major hurricane made landfall in the U.S. was Wilma, in 2005, according to the Associated Press. The seven-year landfall drought is the longest in the U.S. on record, The AP reports.

Hurricane Sandy was downgraded to tropical storm status just before it made landfall in New Jersey last October. Sandy caused $50 billion in damage.

The numbers for 2013 are above the seasonal average of 12 named storms, six hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. Last year was the third-busiest storm season on record.
NOAA's seasonal hurricane outlook does not predict how many storms will hit land or where the storms will strike; it only provides an overview of the season.

With the devastation of Sandy fresh in our minds, and another active season predicted, everyone at NOAA is committed to providing life-saving forecasts in the face of these storms and ensuring that Americans are prepared and ready ahead of time," Sullivan said.
Several climate factors are contributing to the upcoming season being busier, forecasters said.

"These factors include a continuation of the climate pattern that has been responsible for the ongoing era of high activity in the Atlantic that began in 1995; warmer than average sea-surface temperatures across the tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea; and near-normal, year-average seasonal temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean, which means El Nino ... is not expected to develop and suppress hurricane formation this hurricane season," Sullivan said.

Atlantic hurricane season lasts for six months, typically peaking between late August and mid-October.

"This year, oceanic and atmospheric conditions in the Atlantic basin are expected to produce more and stronger hurricanes," said Gerry Bell, Ph.D., lead seasonal hurricane forecaster with NOAA's Climate Prediction Center. "These conditions include weaker wind shear, warmer Atlantic waters and conducive winds patterns coming from Africa."

Pork..it's what's for Lunch

V Rod without the price tag

Do you like the way that V-Rod looks?
That outside wrap around frame?
That contoured fuel tank?

Well, here's your chance to get that bike you like without paying for that bike you like...
All you have to do is not buy that bike you like and buy a Hyosung instead.
Sure they hve a problem with gas tanks splitting open, sure it's made in China and not the U.S. but...is that too much to ask for to get that look you want?

Look at that high tech digital readout !!!

Of course you may actually be better off buying a different Hyosung product...something you can set up and make money. I mean just think off all the bank info you can get owning one of these babies.

It's Friday!!! How's your day going?

I awoke this morning and LEAPED out of bed, it was a panic leap, I thought the clock that said 6am,  it said 8. I went down stairs, took a shower, fed the cat, and looked outside. Yes, once again it was raining...so I went inside and turned on FOX weather, Showers on and off today and tomorrow...hmmm.

I looked out the door again still raining...I threw the cat out the door...she jumped on the screen to come back in..I let her in...she went to bed...Bitch.

Raining...I put on my chaps, jacket, gloves, hat and shades and stepped out into the world. I walked over to the bike and reached in my pocket, no cigarettes...I need to get cigarettes...check for wallet...Money..I have money and I need cigarettes...need keys to unlock tour pack...keys....keys?...NO KEYS!!!  In case you are not aware of this, whether you have a fob system or not, you need keys to run a bike. I double checked my pockets...vest...jacket...pants....Yup....no keys. So I headed back up the stairs to the house...

No Keys...I walked over to the saddlebag on the bike and removed a screwdriver from the tool bag...back to the door...simple task...pry the trim off the window...remove glass..reach in....Glued...Yup..I glued the wood trim on the last time I replaced the glass.

Chaps and jacket were getting warm...raining...trudge around the house to the basement... Screwdriver...wood trim off...glass removed...reach in unlock chain and undo lock...find hammer...replace glass...nail wood trim back in place...up the stairs to get the keys...keys....keys?  Can't find the damn keys....slight panic.., slap my leg out of frustration....

You know...I never use the pockets in my chaps, and I never use them for my keys...keys. Lock the house, start the bike and hit the road...cigarettes....back on the move...raining.

Last nights ride out of Mikes

I arrived at Mikes at around 5:15pm after topping off the fuel tank for the evening cruise. Dave Adams called me earlier in the week to see if I would be willing to lead the ride since he has been under the weather. After riding into work in the rain during the morning rush and the weather predictions coming over the radio, I pictured myself sitting in the Harley Parking lot, all alone, on my bike, in a squall with the water running off the brim of my cowboy hat. This was not to be, during the day, Dale called and asked if I wanted him as a tail gunner, I told him "that would be lovely". As I arrived at Mikes, the grill was running, pushing out tasty hotdogs and each was being individually wrapped with its roll in aluminum foil and there were four bikers in the parking lot and a couple more inside.

I pulled in, walked over and talked to Joe Knutson, I asked him about the party they had that closed rte 184 the day before. It turns out it was not a motorcycle accident it was a three car. A woman sitting waiting to turn left into Mikes, a young lady texting on her way east, who, slammed into the back of the woman waiting, who was driven across 184 into a head on collision with a woman coming down the hill.

The bikers in the parking lot were not joining us on the ride. I asked them if they really rode all the way from Virginia to have one of their bikes serviced at Mikes. What happened was they are on a "bucket List" ride, and they arrived at Mystic and decided to take a couple photos of the bikes with the Old Ships in the back ground. Done taking photos and looking around they jumped back on their bikes and headed to Rhode Island and Ocean State Harley Davidson. Unfortunately, as with most motorcycle adventures something went wrong. (That's why they call them adventures). One of the Riders had a newer Ultra, a "fob" Ultra, and somewhere tween where they were now and where they were then, he dropped his keys, fob and all. They tried the security override by using the last of the vin and 1-2-3-4-5, but seeing as the owner was not the previous owner he had no idea what the code was. So $500.00 later and a few pictures standing in front of the Mike's sign, the bike was having a new security module installed.

At 6pm with no riders showing up, Dale/Melinda and Myself headed off into the sunset.

As for the Riders from Virginia, they were going to eat in Mystic, cruise route 1 to Westerly and 3 to Exeter, cross Rhode Island off their "to do" list, then ride back to Mystic to sleep before heading to Washington DC in the morning.

Mikes Hotdogs?  Gone...The Hotdog cook was more than happy to give the dogs away, the riders from Virginia were more than happy to eat them while they waited for the bike to come out of the shop.

A Treat

A Dominican friend of mine decided that he was going to treat us all to a "Treat" today. All excited he took off out the door. A short while later he returned an set in front of me, one (1) Burger King ice cream sundae (chocolate syrup) and one, (1) order of Burger King french fries.  Instructions were simple, "Eat the ice cream  by dipping the french fries".

Well...you know me, I am open to try just about anything, except perhaps that Moroccan Rotted meat in putrefied grease with eggs breakfast that was on bizarre meals. So I took a french fry and dunked it, then another. I gave this a really good try, approximately 10 times....and I have no reservations in saying...NO. I understand what he was going for, that salty sweet thing. The problem as I see it is salty sweet deep fry fat and potatoes....just no.

bring back the Bacon Sundaes and I Will be happy, sweat salty bacon good...sweet chocolaty salty greasy potatoes...bad.

Woodhall and a grassy field

Just a note for some friends who are away.

There is a field, just off a road,
Where Harleys aren't wont to go,
But add some sand, to a hill and a bend,
and  a Harley may lose the rear end.

From a ride running fair,
to a bike in the air,
o'er a wall and the rear seat a scare,
A flight, a bounce, and more that one swear.

This is for Nellie,
who had such a great time that day, that I thought she might like to know that the field off Puttker road is for sale now. It would be a nice place for a house and maybe an easy access garage.

traveling thoughts

Weird night at the Club last night

Whenever the motorcycles stopped running there was a distinct popping in the woods behind the Club. It started as perhaps a 38. After the bikes shut off for the night it was more the sound of a 45 Automatic.

Lesson of the day
